It was benevolence. He could have allowed Parsons to toil at $900,000 this season while going out and signing whoever the eff he wanted. He ALLOWED Parsons to get out of that by going out and setting his market value. Parsons did what was best for him. That's fine. But where the problem comes is you painting it out to be like the Rockets DISRESPECTED him. They gave him the opportunity to GET overpaid. If it wasn't for them, he wouldn't be able to sit there and send out asinine tweets taking shots at our city and our organization in the first place. He's been the most disrespectful person in all of this, and yet you're still taking up for him like HE'S the victim.

If you think it was benevolence, you have the rosiest colored glasses of them all. Unless Morey has a history of just releasing guys that could probably make more money because he feels bad that they have to wait another year before signing a new contract. If he DID let Parsons go because he was just being nice, then we all should be asking for Morey's head on a stake for letting a player go that could help this roster and only cost $960,000 because he felt like being nice.

It was either one of two things:

    1) Morey released him in order to sign another player, then match the offer afterwards. You can go over the cap to re-sign your own player, which is what Morey tried (and failed) to do in signing Bosh, then matching the Parsons deal. He would only do this, though, if he didn't think he'd be able to keep an unrestricted free agent Parsons after the following season or....

    2) The narrative that gets floated around here is true, where Morey had an under-the-table deal with Dwight's/Parsons' agent, essentially requiring him to decline Parsons' option in exchange for signing Dwight.

If #1 is true, then the Rockets didn't really bone Parsons too much, so much as they just screwed up. Cuban caught Morey with his pants down and Parsons just happened to be the guy that benefited most from it. The Mavs are certainly overpaying for Parsons (by a good margin), but Parsons was still a player that Morey wanted and all he ended up doing was turning the league's most team-friendly contract in to a starter for a division rival. Only consolation for the Rockets is if that contract severely hamstrings the Mavs going forward.

If #2 is true, then they absolutely did disrespect Parsons. Parsons has indicated that he expected the Rockets to match and the only contract he signed was one that was deemed acceptable by the guy who helped facilitate the whole thing in the first place. Can't blame Parsons. I don't recall him ever demanding an extension, asking for a trade, or doing anything else to get out of his undervalued deal. He was set to make his money the following year until this all went down. If it was his understanding that the Rockets would match....then they didn't, that is kind of disrespecting him. Sure, he has 46 million reasons to not feel bad for him, but it was still kind of a chump move (assuming #2 is the reason his option wasn't picked up).

I assume you are deferring to another poster since this forum does not allow you to submit pictures drawn in crayon as a substitute for a coherent thought?

It's funny how worked up some of you get; almost to the point that your grammar suffers.

I hate to burst your bubble, but since the Rondo trade the Mavs are actually sixth in defensive rating (we're eleventh). Rondo's inability to shoot means that they've dropped to seventh in offensive rating, but it's made them a much more balanced team.

If you think it was "benevolence" then you are incredibly naive. Nothing in this league gets done out of benevolence. When millions of dollars are at stake, everything is calculated.

Restricted free agency is a fickle thing. Sometimes, it will make a player overpaid, like Eric Gordon. Other times, a player gets shafted with no bidders... like Greg Monroe. Parsons would've been an unrestricted free agent in 2015. Morey chose to let Parsons become a restricted free agent in 2014, hoping he'll be shafted with no bidders. After all, everyone knew the Rockets were gonna match any offer... right? Nobody imagined the Rockets would ever let Parsons walk. Well, Mark Cuban stepped in and made sure Morey's gamble didn't pay off. End of story.

Parsons didn't take shots at Houston. Everything he has ever said and tweeted have been perfectly reasonable and benign. It's just some butt-hurt Rockets fans and media are interpreting his words in the worst way possible, and painting him as though he was taking shots at the city. Any person with half a brain knew Parson's remarks were not malicious. He clearly had no idea his words would be taken out of context and twisted the way it did.

    Okay, Chandler.

He was asked what was different between living in Dallas compared to Houston, and he said that Dallas was cleaner. A diplomatic answer that wouldn't have stirred any controversy could have been something about a different late night vibe, or different kind of cuisine - it's a question that any professional athlete could have answered more articulately, but instead he implies Houston to be dirty like a child.

Not to mention the "left Houston so easily" line in that silly "Run DMC" video. You look at what normal athletes do when they leave their previous teams (take a page out in the newspaper to thank the fans, avoid any absolute comparisons between cities, avoid Twitter controversy, etc.) and it's night and day.

Actually, my grammar is quite well considering it's my third language, and I tutor students in english. I can't really say if you're worth your contract, Mr. Supposed glue guy that played "amazing" defense but didn't show up during finals and let batum crap on you and decided to high tail to saddle onto Cuban.

Mr. I will leave town because Morey doesn't think I'm on James harden level so I'll stick it to the organization that drafted me by going to the interstate rival to show them I'm better than harden.

I hope you know that is sarcasm by the way.. Since English isn't really your forte. You should have just said: It's funny how worked up some of you get, especially to the point when your English suffers.
