At the end of the day these are grown ass men. It's a matter of them communicating with each other stop forcing so much to happen, and be ready to play night in and night out. Got clowned by the Magic and Warriors but we can beat the Thunder and the Pacers (top defensive team) Sure coaching obviously has a huge factor in those situations but it's up to the actual players to win the games. (besides we're focusing too much on this right now) I have faith come playoff time we'll be well coached and ready to make some noise.
It's a matter of what type of team you want to see. We are not organized and it is far too easy to simply key in on Harden and we are done, we have nothing else. The Thunder was on a losing streak and Indiana is only top 7 or 8 in defensive efficiency this year, without the scoring of Paul George. So they don't exactly prove how good or bad we are. The Rockets want to play fast and loose with as many superstars as they can get. The problem is the whole big three thing is now outdated. And I don't know if you noticed but we don't have the 3 in the big three yet. Howard is regressing by the day. So do we have enough time to get that third star before his prime ends? Why gamble why not get a better coach and system and use what you've got instead of hunting more whales. Staying with Mchale this year without a third star is basically saying we are ok where we are and we don't care about getting far in the Playoffs YET. If we get far great if not that's fine too, I really don't like that type of attitude.
So McHale "has no idea" why we can't consistently bring energy to these games. Why don't we get a coach in here that does have an idea. Seems pretty simple to me. But the bottom line is...it has nothing to do with energy level and effort. Every team in the league is going to have 5-10 games per year where the effort is just not there. That doesn't just apply to the Rockets like McHale seems to think it does. It has to do with the way this team chooses to play the game of basketball, and the players not being put in a position to win. Yes, the Rockets have a great record. They are still underachieving.
It is what it is. Narrow minded fans will continue to be blinded by regular season record and then cite excuses such as "coin flip" or other worldly LMA for playoff humiliation and embarassment despite HCA. How many other times has LMA been other worldly? McHale's lack of adjustments is what let LMA do what he wants. Fact is regular season record is hardly an achievement when you have two top 10 players in the world and a well rounded roster. Harden himself pretty much carries this team to 50+ wins. However, the real coaching starts come playoff time and McHale will ALWAYS be 2nd best on most nights and be thoroughly outcoached.
Are you completely forgetting about the summer free agency where we swung for the fences or the looming deadline in Feb? It seems you are seeing things that are not there, especially the organization's attitude.
At what point did I say they are not trying to get a third star. I know they are trying thats the point.
All because people views are different than yours doesn't mean they are narrow minded. And all because you have two Superstars doesn't mean you will reap immediately gratification either. It was Howard and Harden's 1st year together. You might not agree but making the playoffs was a good achievement for this team. Builds up their confidence for the next season.
That's not an assumption Morey said we needed a third superstar and he is going after one how is that assumption? Les said we are fine just making the playoffs and not getting out of the first round as far as his expectations, how is that assumption?
What I find foolish is that you don't realize that you have a very low level of reading comprehension.
For everyone that thinks McHale is a good coach and is the guy who will take us far in the playoffs, I want you to really pay attention to the game tonight. Watch how well the Warriors move the ball. Watch how well their offense flows and how they are always looking to make the extra pass and keeping our defense on their heels. Also pay attention to our offense. Watch how much one on one, isolation ball we play. Especially in clutch situations. And on those one on one isolation plays watch the Warriors defense. Watch how they basically get to take the play off whether Harden scores or not because we are not moving or forcing them to make decisions. These two teams are very even in talent. An argument can be made for either team as far as who is MORE talented. The coaching discrepancy should be obvious if you REALLY pay attention.
That's because their GM is not tampering with their core players. The Warriors are playing with great chemistry because their core has been intact for more than two seasons.
It's like you truly believe that there isn't luck. That just a few more bad bounces/calls in the favor of 1 team can't effect the outcome between 2 evenly matched teams. How many times has LMA been other worldly? That just reinforces the other sides point. It is extremely rare for someone to do what he did in those first 2 games. Are we just assuming that those 2 games was the absolute worst defenses he has ever faced in his career and he took advantage and that when put into that same situation he would continue to dominate like that? Mo Williams goes for 50+ in a game. Was it really just the absolute worst defensive scheme he ever faced or did it really not matter that night no matter what the other team did? There are plenty of legitimate gripes people can find with McHale, but I find a good chunk of the evidence people use against him in this thread don't even make any logical sense.
Thats silly. Good teams create their own luck. Good coaches put their teams in situations where the ball is more likely to bounce their way. You dont think an adjustment on LMA would have slowed him down? You think if we had a banger on the team that would put a body and nasty attitude on LMA, he woulda went off?
Luck favors the prepared. Under Mchale this team never seems prepared against the elite. Opportunistic people take advantage of the luck they have. We were lucky to get James Harden but if Morey wasn't prepared then we would have not gotten him.
