You are suffering from the disease known as 'I have my mind made up already, and I don't care what the facts are, I only see what I want to see'.. or, IHMMMUA,AIDCWTFA,IOSWIWTS . It's a terrible terrible disease. People who know basketball, study it professionally, analyze it, and scout players.. THOSE people know what some people here already know: Motiejunas is one of the most sound and solid defenders in the league already, and he will only get even better from there. You insistence on a 'stretch 4' has you blinded. Ok, so be it, but it renders your 'insights' pretty much both wrong and worthless. Tell me, when is the last time you saw Harden try to drive to the hoop but was blocked by D-Mo being in the way? SMH
lol It appears that you need to read what you wrote and see yourself. Y'all love Dmo and think he is this great player now before proving himself. Y'all want to get rid of a great player because of shortsightedness. We have one player who is a DPOY and may be again this year and then we have a player who is finally showing signs he may be able to play in the NBA. Who should this team take into the playoffs? I can go ahead and show the stats as I have again over and over but it does no good because y'all ignore it and when I ask who is playing when Dwight sits and the teams top defensive rating tanks it is unanswered. That shows deceit and ignorance. Howard is not going anywhere and Dmo will never be a great defender. I almost wish we could go into the playoffs with Dmo and no Howard so you haters will see but hopefully we don't as I want to win.
This'll probably be my last response to you because there's not much point. No one is suggesting that we get rid of our center because we have a power forward that is playing well. Let's say that again, just because a player is doing well at the 4 doesn't mean that we want to get rid of our 5. DMo has already shown to be a good defender without Dwight, you know, when he played all of those games where Dwight was out with injury, so trying to pretend that DMo's awesome defensive numbers are only due to playing next to Dwight is pretty ignorant and irresponsible. DMo has shown to be one of the best rim protecting bigs in the NBA, despite the fact that you refuse to acknowledge it. Having a great defensive 5 and a great defensive 4 playing side by side only helps the team.
Dwight is bone on bone, his days as a dominant center are in the rear view mirror. DMo is already nearly as good at contesting shots near the rim, not as a shot blocker but he is a much better positional defender than Dwight, and he moves the ball and his body by running the PnR. Dwight was a beast, but unfortunately, he never decided to put the time in to become a good all around player, he relied on his athleticism, and now that it is beginning to wane, and his body is breaking down, his numbers will go down as well. Dwight probably won't be signed here again, this may be his last contract if his knees are as serious as they seem. They should rest him more and put our up and coming center DMo in for longer stretches, he is better on offense and about the same on defense anyway. DD
Can you please show me the evidence that his knees are done? Just because he said (and note only him) "bone on bone" doesn't mean that is the actual issue. I know some of you guys keep saying this all the time but there's no reason to believe Dwight is done. He is only being slightly hampered with a niggling injury at this point and is trying to ensure he is 100% for playoffs. I don't see how that means his career is over, but if you guys have better information please share...
lol If he was bone on bone he would not be playing at all. There is no way he could, impossible. If you hate Dmo this much and believe that Dmo is this great player then you will never enjoy BB ever.
DMo isn't a permanent 5 at this point in his career though, even if that ends up being true about Dwight, we'll still need to seek a replacement 5 elsewhere.
Exactly. D-Mo isn't a full time 5. I'm fine with him getting spot minutes, but even with his elite rim protection numbers (that I was one of the first to point out on this board) he's still better at the 4 than the 5. I think eventually a D-Mo-Capela combination in the front court could be pretty awesome. But you are definitely right that even if everything is true about Dwight, D-Mo as the permanent 5 isn't really the answer.
Dwight said it, numerous reports are that his knee is still bothering him and that it is something he will have to live with, that is not a guy that is coming back to the glory days. Weren't you guys here during Yao Ming's era, or didn't you see Steve Francis once his athleticism left him? We don't need to hang on to aging stars. And DMo is a permanent 5 - he has all the tools, the size, the ability, and it is his natural position, there are hardly ANY huge Centers anymore there are more PF/C combos than true centers nowadays. DD
That's not true. He's not. You're wrong about this one. He still plays too soft to be a 5. He could develop into a full time 5 eventually, but not yet. I'd worry about the wear and tear on D-Mo playing the center spot full time. I'm hoping Capela will be the 5 alongside D-Mo on the front court. That would be the ideal situation if Capela turns into Mutombo light with a jumper. The future is bright. There are plenty of real (huge) 5's still. Let me make you a list of just a few: Dwight Howard Mozgov Asik Len Hibbert Cousins Drummond Gortat Noah Jonas V. Plumlee Lopez (the one that isn't soft) Adams At the end of the day, you still want a shot blocking threat playing the center position for you. I love what D-Mo brings a lot because he's a really smart defender like Shane Battier. But I don't want to see him banging with the likes of those guys on offense and defense on a nightly basis. It'll wear him down.
I remember the Rockets played some of their best defense as a team when Dwight was out with injuries. Particularly, the two games against the Grizz they allowed 117 pts both time and lost when Dwight was in the lineup. When he was out they only score 96 pts and lost their only game against the Rox. I think Dmo can hold his own when D12 is away.
I disagree with you entirely about the Dwight situation, but that is a different story...D-mo Is a great positional defender, but he is not a threat to legit centers one on one in terms of post defense Take the Kings vs Rockets game for example, both D-Mo and Black took turns on Boogie alongside a double team per our gameplan...Boogie nearly went for a 30 pt 20 rebound game and dominated the paint...D-Mo is a four especially if you plan on matching him up with starters playing him at the 5 much like playing Bosh or Aldridge at the 5 is not ideal for his offense or defense
the beard is playing better than lebron... whos to say he wont be even better than mj...the current beard reminds me much of 80s m.j. ..perhaps he just needs a decent helper star(perhaps dmo?) and a decent coach in order to launch into true greatness
