I disagree, Yao was great in the playoffs until his broken foot got to bad for him to play. If Dwight is perma-injured than I think that he will not opt out, and that the Rockets should not offer him a new deal. There is no loyalty for injuries, if the guy is declining, let him do it on another suckers team. DD
I think you're panicking too soon. I'll agree that Dwight hasn't lived up to our high expectations but he is still doing a pretty good job on the boards and anchoring the defense. I love Dmo but I don't think he would be able to benefit the Rockets in the way Howard does. We need boards, put backs, a dump off for alley oop option. Howard does all of this better than Dmo and his defense is still better. He is still WORTH the max
Who cares about the regular season? I love Yao Ming to death but the dude always got injured during playoff time because he worked his ass off on meaningless regular season games, it was always the biggest reason Tmac and the rest of the guy couldn't go to the 2nd round the big fella played like an MVP around all star break and was wearing a boot once the playoffs started. Dwight hasn't given us 20-10 in the regular season but if you looked at last season it was the same thing and he beasted for us in the playoffs, when games actually mattered. I know posters like DD are always panicking because Dwight isn't giving us 20-10 in the regular season however looking at his regular season and the way he has played I'm sure DH could give us 100% if he wanted to, he just doesn't want to because it's painful and it's a meaningless regular season game, there's no point to it IMHO, even the seeding is useless because every team 1-8 in the West is deadly, even Dallas or PHX isn't a guaranteed win esp. if the opponent guards like Monta or Dragic/Bledsoe get hot. If we reach the playoffs and Dwight ends up putting up 1-6, 6 pts and 5 rebs then yeah, I'd say trade him. However using the regular season when seeding has almost no benefit to judge how he would react in the playoffs when Dwight has had 10+years of showing up in the playoffs and just showed up last season is the height of stupidity IMHO.
It's the games where Dwight's knee is bad that they rely on his defense, and its basically nowhere to be seen. He also seems perpetually afraid of banging knees so avoids rebounding contests
Worth the max my ass! Get that **** out of here. The dude is playing injured(bone on bone) and he's declining in his athleticism and he's not getting younger. Why waste the Max money on him when we can spend it on a younger SuperStar. Smh
I kept bumping that P3 thread, where it showed Dwight's lateral movement vs Teague's (who, according to P3 moved ideally) and clearly Dwight's was compromised. Y'all ignored it and and instead want to talk about effort levels or needing rest. The reality is his mechanics were bad, as recent as this summer, and I don't think they've been corrected completely. That's what left his knee bone on bone and likely contributed to his rotator cuff tear and herniated disk, all signs of joints moving incorrectly. So, the question is, how bad did it wear his body down and how much has been corrected? The answers to that should determine if he's extended and whether he opts out or not. Paging Cyberx...
Yes, this is certainly possible. I think DM should try to get a backup center like Henry Sims and Mo Williams at the PG spot. Cut Dorsey and Shved.
we didnt missed him a bit when he was out for the stretch 10 or so games...bbiq of our team was much higher then....sure he brings a lot of things to the table but takes perhaps even more than he brings...i would wanted him and his skills only as role player playing strictly within himself...
That's not what I said. I pointed out he has issues with his mechanics, and listed his injuries as being indicators of joint troubles. Bad mechanics lead to joint strain/excessive wear. It's all related. He's above average playing vertically (catching lobs, dunks, rebounds), but struggles with just about every other motion and direction. He is also not very good on one leg or shifting his weight from leg to leg. He'll jump off two legs primarily. That's likely a sign of instability.
I won't trade him but yeah he is getting older and more injury prone with age.... Was expected but not until he reaches 32.... disappointing but we have to ride out his contract
Love your username! Saw your post count....it's amazing! You only need 92,900 more posts and you'll be right there in DD's range!... ....... ....... .......
If they can use Shved in a trade, I am all for it. Nothing against him, but he has a very long way to go. It will be hard to get a buyer for Dorsey, but he isn't valuable enough to be retained. I would have all right with him, if Howard was fully fit. There has been concern about Dwight ever since he got hurt, but this new update is quite alarming. We need a better backup center. D-Mo is much better at the 4, than at the 5 spot.
Rockets were 8-3 with DMo as the starting center, and we beat some great teams there too. Rest Dwight, no need to burn him out in the regular season, and yes clearly he wants the all star game, well that is too bad, do what is best for the Rockets, rest him. BTW - Cyber just said that some in the Rox organization are worried Dwight might need Microfracture surgery...ugh.... DD
They need to trade for a decent back up center. Beverly + NO pick for a young decent back or just bring back Tarik Black.
