Watch out dude. He'll break his caps lock key and tell you to take an intro to philosophy class at your local community college to improve your critical thinking ability.
LOL it helps that I was right and it was funny, I'm perfectly capable of laughing at myself. I responded the way I was responding because I had a lot of people trying to neg rep me for liking Mchale and the punks would not leave their names so yeah I was upset. And also while I am not in community college their is nothing wrong with going to one. Going to any college is better than not going at all.
Winning a majority of your regular season games when you've been here 3 1/2 years and have had Harden for 2 1/2 and Howard for 1 1/2 is not a monumental achievement. I think McHale has done a good job this season(at least until Howard got back), but the real test for him is in the postseason. What happens if the Rockets win 52-56 games this season(they're on pace for 56 wins right now) and flame out in the first round again? Is anyone really gonna be patting McHale on the back and saying "good job"? Personally, I'll be pretty p-ssed at the prospect of another wasted season after 2013-14 was squandered thanks in part to lousy coaching in the playoffs. And while Les Alexander may not think winning a playoff series matters, someone may wanna explain to him that all these big name players he covets won't be eager to come to an organization that only advances past the first round once every couple of decades. Especially when H-Town is already a lacking the glamor or marketability of other cities like LA or Miami.
Which coach in this league would be so incompetent they could not string together 3 playoff seasons with James Harden? JVG, Adelman, Tomjanovich, all better coaches than McHale, had to deal with periods of hardship thus tanking their winning percentage. That's all it is.
I will just do a general reply since there are a few haters at once. Mchale the past two years has coached the team to the winningest percentage in the teams history...fact. He has the two years previous had to do this with No bench and no PF...fact. Having just Harden does help but a team needs a lot more than one player no matter how great he is...fact. He also has had to do this with Morey constantly churning the personnel over...fact. Mchale has had to also try to win with little to no defense...fact. These facts no one can argue with I am sure all can agree and understand. Mchale has to constantly try to integrate and get new players to gel. No coaches can do this successfully but Mchale is expected to do so for some reason. Now Mchale looks to maybe have a bench for the first time this year even though they still need to gel and learn. He has introduced a defensive scheme that has the team top ranked and with new players right now he is expected to somehow get them to integrate and gel with each other. As for a PF he still has a 7 foot center that he has to try and make into a PF and a horrendous jump shooter but a great defender. He has another undersized PF that should return soon. In the playoffs again Houston has to go against many teams that have two established big men that have already proven themselves and had time to learn and compete. We also have Harden as our guard that basically plays both guard spots at the same time so we have to go against teams that have two good to great guards. Y'all need to take off the rose colored glasses and look more critically at the players and what he has to work with. I am guilty of this too as I am a Bev fan but the past month I have decided to look at Bev more critically and have found him wanting in two key areas. At the least our wing play is above average now and that helps a lot. Harden is usually worth 2 guards on the floor at the same time. We have one of the best big men in the NBA now in Howard. We don't have that very much needed stretch 4 but I am hoping we can make do at that spot with Dmo and Josh. It will take time. We need to let the team keep improving and wait and see what happens on our match ups in the playoffs. Nothing will change this year on coaching so to keep reviving this thread and b**** and moan and cry about Mchale is counter productive and moronic. We go one and out again then I see this thread as needed. Now it is looking like we have some idiots as fans.
lol With no bench or PF's or no defense do you think he is supposed to go deep in the playoffs against the western conference elite teams? Even with Harden is he supposed to do so? No you are just hating because you are a hater. Give the man some players to compete and then let's see.
Harden making mchale look good yet again... Any coach can when games with a talent like James Harden... But what happens when teams equal us in talent and it comes down to xs snd o's.
Papa was giving us great minutes earlier. Of course he's going to look like **** as a rookie coming off an injury getting random 4 minute spurts every 5 games.
Dude its obvious you are the one with the glasses on. No team is going to have superstars at every position. The guy cannot coach and there is a reason that Vegas had him the first to be fired at the end of the season. You either don't know basketball or you are not watching the games. Its probably both
Just to show that this is not knee-jerk, I have to post this after a win. McHale is one of the worst coaches in the NBA.
Hang on there, it's not like any of our previous coaches have won anything. It's not like any of them won two championships, or 1791 regular season games or anything. McHale is the winningest coach in Rockets history and one of those four seasons he had to make do with Kyle Lowry instead of James Harden.
I'm not as much on the McFail bandwagon as I used to be. "Recruiter" style coaches can certainly win the NBA. To me the paragon of the recruiter coach is Phil Jackson. Phil sits there, caters to his stars (of whom he always seems to get the best), and teaches them how to subjugate their egos in favor of the greater good. At the same time, he HAS to have an offensive and defensive coordinator with him at all times to be successful. That triangle wasn't being taught by Phil Jackson, and Phil knew it--which is why Tex Winter was so instrumental to their success. On the Rockets, we got substantially better on defense this year by hiring Dunn and putting Bickerstaff on it full time as well. Now, I think, it's time to take the offensive reins out of McHale's hands as well, if it ever was to an extent. Given Chris Finch more power--or hire someone from outside, it doesn't matter--and see what we can do with McHale smiling from the top of the circus tent.
My average post on this site is once a day, just once. I have been on Clutchfans 8 years and I only have just over 3000 posts, which means I really don't post here too often. Unlike some people I actually have a life I don't sit on here all day. But when I do post on here you better believe it'll have something to do with what a sorry sack Kevin Mchale is as a coach. If anyone has enough time to go back in this thread and count how many times have posted in it (Which some poor loser already has) I feel very very sorry for them. Find a new hobby YOU get a girlfriend or a Job whatever comes first bro, get off my jock.
McHale blows Despite a 24 point lead against these scrubs, he had to bring back his only savior Harden to close this game out. Dude is absolutely clueless as a coach and owes Harden his entire pay cheque and more.
