From now on, he should only shoot hook shots from half court <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Jf6batHR28c?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Some of you are insane. I get it. You like Dmo. He's decent, but you're talking about him like he's the Lithuanian Lamarcus Aldridge.
lol Not hate Dmo at all and I think he has earned playing time but he has a long way to go to get more time. He definitely can't carry a team and he will never be a DPOY but may become a decent defender one day. He is doing good at post play but I do know he sucked at it for over 2 years and could revert. He will have to keep playing well at what he does to have earned the moniker of "untouchable". I am encouraged that his 3 point play is improving because that is how he will earn more playing time as he will not push Dwight out of the post except as a back up. We need a stretch 4 badly. If he can keep improving his 3 point shot and learn to defend the perimeter then he can be that piece we need. As I said he has a long way to go to be an important piece for a deep run. Josh Smith is more important in that regard at the moment. Dmo does look to make us a deeper bench and that is his importance at this point of time. Besides that he is a great trade chip for a PG or another playmaker which is our greatest need at this time. To say that he needs to get all the post play is so laughable as to be a joke. I liked TJ and thought he may take the next step and be an above average PF but he is now expendable in my opinion.
If Marc Gasol who's not a shot-blocker, became DPOY, you can't say it's IMPOSSIBLE for DMo. Granted, it's improbable, but definitely not impossible.
No offense, but do you even watch the Rockets play? You seem to have pretty strange ideas about DMo's game. You say he needs to improve his 3 point shooting without realizing how it HAS improved, you say he had a poor post game for the past 2 years when it simply wasn't the case, you say "one day" that he might become a "decent" defender one day without realizing that he's one of the top rim protectors in the NBA, RIGHT NOW. I certainly don't want to accuse you of "hating" anyone, but it seems like you either don't watch, or you don't know what you are seeing when you watch.
Gread post, stats dont lie. If Dwight can focus on D, play his role and this team will be unstoppable.
lol I watch every game and he is not a top rim protector. He is rated high playing next to Dwight only. His 3 point shot has improved recently and hopefully will continue and be able to stretch the floor. The Rockets are a top defensive team with Howard but become average when Howard sits. If Dmo was so great it would not drop off so bad. Playing next to a DPOY will make surrounding players looks better than they are. Watch the whole game and not just a fave player and open your eyes. It is hard as I have fave players too. Dmo the last two years sucked. The stats that the other poster showed were lacking in a big way. For one they are very few touches. I do remember taht Dmo earned the starting spot about 2-3 times because his play looked good but when he was thrust into the starters spot he failed miserably and he would be relegated back to the end of the bench. Also he showed last years but of course as usual he didn't show 2 years ago conveniently as usual and is why I ignore him as he does that often. Now Dmo 3 point shot is inconsistent usually but recently he has improved and been consistent but he still needs more time and more touches to show that he can spread the floor. Until he does and gets the defense to come out and stretch the floor then he is not a stretch. They haven't and he isn't until they do so. The playoffs proved fatal to this team because of this fatal flaw. It looks tough for us again because we have no stretch offense against the west conference teams we will be facing in the playoffs. Now we still have a half year to get one or improve in this so time will tell. Now of course the Dmo lovers that say to give the post plays to Dmo are being ignorant in thinking that the team will bench Howard to allow this to happen because that is what will have to happen. We can't have two post players at the same time and play twin towers. That will close the lanes for Harden and make him ineffective. Harden needs and will get the maximum plays called for him that will get the floor as spread as possible. Dmo and Howard playing the post at the same time will not happen. They may try it at times as a novelty and see what happens but it will never be a mainstay. Harden has the priority here as he should be. Howard will not be traded and Dmo given the offense. Howard is maybe the best center in the game still and a future HOF'er and also this year on track to maybe win the DPOY again. Unless someone gives us a top 5 player Dwight is here to stay and also Dwight has a player option and that gives him pretty much a veto on trades. Also there is questions on his health. Our future lies in Howard right now and we need to get with that program or looked stupid. Dmo has looked real good and now instead of being a bust that could maybe give us a 2nd rounder hopefully has become an asset that has given us a deeper bench and supplanted TJ to a possible real nice trade chip that can help us land a player we need at a real needed position. We can look at reality or not it is each individual choice but don't get irate if some here don't see the genius because a fave player of a fan isn't given the keys to the team. Harden and Howard is the team and all others are role players.
Fair enough, we'll agree to disagree, you can feel free to go with your eye test and I'll go with the numbers that say exactly the opposite of what you think you are seeing.
lol Fair enough but the stats are on this very forum and have been for awhile now. I have even replied to one several times to show the stats on Howard and how he is playing at a DPOY this year but it seems to have done no good. It shows we are a great defensive team with him on the floor and a barely average team when he sits. Who is playing at the 5 and being the rim protector when Howard sits? Dmo. Now that is not saying he is a bad defender but far from among the best rim protectors in the game. It is hard to be the go to guy and carry the team from the 5 spot and takes years to achieve that. Dmo just needs time but it does show that he is far from being able to trade or bench Dwight. Dmo is playing well and deserves more consideration and I for one hope he continues his stellar play. Tonights game will show a lot. I am excited. Just please temper the remarks on Howard until it is all said and done.
Why do you post so much? I didn't even bother to read this one, as the other posts of yours were so uninformed. Why do you post so much? You should have followed my advice to you weeks ago - read more, write less.
Why all of a sudden we're talking about the defensive end? We're talking about DoMo's and Dwight's offensive game.
He still needs to shoot hooks, but perhaps just fewer, to keep the defense honest. The same reason a pitcher with three pitches shouldn't abandon his least effective one, unless it is horrible.
For some reason he can't talk about Dwight without mentioning it. He also don't believe DMO and Howard can play at the same time with DMO getting the majority of the low post shots. It doesn't fit his idea of "how things are supposed to work" in basketball as if there is this cookie cutter way of doing things.
Thanks for the stats and confirming what we are seeing in games. The Rockets are terribly inefficient when we resort to feeding Dwight. It's just the reality. Dwight is ridiculously overrated as an offensive player and the Rockets need to adjust the offense accordingly.
