I love Dwight's defense, rebounding, rim protection. He does so many things to help this team win game. But he needs to recognize that he has to finish strong near the rim. He doesn't have a great shooting touch to be utilizing hooks, bank shots etc. I assume it's not only the shooting touch that's contributing to these poor percentages - it's also the fact that he's not a great post-up player and when he tries to post-up he simply doesn't put himself into a high-percentage shot opportunities, has to take difficult shots.[/QUOTE]

Dwight isn't playing that great of a defense right now. come to think of it, in the last ten games or so, i can't think of anything he did well at all, probably mostly because he wasn't hustling out there on the court.

right now Dwight is a shell of his former self. not sure if he will snap out of it. maybe this is just who he is from now on. his comments about turning it on in the playoff just made laugh. we are not even half way through the season and he's talking about turning it on in the playoffs? he needs some serious attitude adjustment pronto if he's going to earn his $20+ millions.

He may not be playing defense at his DPOY level, but he is most certainly still a great defensive player. Likewise his rebounding is down, but he's still a top flight rebounder. We all agree he's not playing at a star level right now, but he is still an extremely effective player even if the box score doesn't show it.

Having said that he does need to step it up, we aren't paying him to be effective, we need him to be more.

Not gonna lie, my angus tightens up every time Dwight has the ball in the post or when Josh Smith attempts a long jumper

    Dwight during 2013-14 Playoffs:

    Driving Hook Shot 2/4
    Hook Bank Shot 2/2
    Hook Shot 9/22
    Running Bank Hook Shot 1/1
    Running Hook Shot 1/3
    Turnaround Hook Shot 2/4

    17/36 - 47.22%

He shot 47% on hook-shots during his hot-run, which is better than 39-40% but it's still not even 50% which would merit him utilizing such methods of scoring.

Arvydas Sabonis, probably. I know D-Mo has trained with him a lot, wouldn't be surprised if Jonas has too. Different style of hook shot.

Sabonis vs Valanciunas 2 years ago in Houston:

Sabonis still got some fuel in in the tank.

All of Dwight's points should come from alley oop lobs, PnR rolls to the basket,& offensive rebound put packs. No posting up. He sucks in the post.

What I remember from the playoffs was that Dwight seemed much more athletic and explosive. His post moves and spin moves were quicker and more emphatic. He had a lot more dunks instead of hook shots.

I think Howard should shot much more, any type he wants, including 3s, as long as his overall FG% is above 50.

And shooting PFs, more space and better set plays by his coach. All that counts.

I remember when Dmo for over 2 years couldn't make a post shot. He should have stopped too.
