"To the Paterno family: Shut up. Stop talking, like, now. We get it. You are trying to salvage your dad's legacy. It's over. You're done. No one cares about your stupid statements you keep putting out. It's not about you anymore. Go away, please. Thanks."

Sean Pendergast's "Statement to the Paterno Family":

"Shut the **** up. Seriously, shut the **** up.

Unless you have something of substance to add to the allegations against Jerry Sandusky or have a fat six figure check you wish to donate to a charity helping the victims of child sexual abuse heal, nobody gives a rat's ass what you think about the removal of your father's statue, the removal of scholarships from Penn State's program, or the removal of dog **** from your front yard...."

It's more of NCAA problem than anything. They haven't had the best image, lately.

This comes after a weekend when it was pretty much sealed that the Big X would be shut out of the playoff. It looks like the NCAA got scared with all this talk of the power 5 breaking off from them and gave Penn St their bowl eligibility so the conference could make the money they lost from sucking back. It was pretty sad to watch ESPN try and spin this as the right thing to do, and props to Desmond Howard as being the only one to call them out on this being utter bull****.

Except that they rescinded some of the punishment last year too, and this was the recommendation given by George Mitchell, who does the independent annual summaries of PSU's progress. Sometimes, the simplest explanation is the right one.

Keith Olbermann hit the nail on the head. Absolutely disgusting that all these wins were given back. It is like they want people to think it never happened...sorry, but the legacy and reputation of Paterno and Penn State will always be tarnished by the Sandusky scandal. The NCAA just made this situation a 1000 times worse...smh.

Vacating the wins is silly and pointless

Not really, but on the contrary by restoring the wins, it gives the idea that winning is all that mattered at Penn State. Listen to what Olbermann said - he articulates it better than I can type it in a post. Paterno was negligent and there was a cover-up because after all, football is more important at Penn State than the welfare of children. That will be their legacy - both Paterno and Penn State.

I never agree with Olbermann, but he is 100% right on this one

No it's not. The NCAA makes teams vacate wins for things like players taking money. This was the coverup of child rape occurring at your facilities. There has never been a worse transgression committed by a football program, that we know about at least.
