Lopez plays very little defense, so if he scores 18 the opposing big will score 20. He's also playing the East, in the East DH was collecting 20-20s every night, once Dwight went west his scoring dropped by 4 pts and his rebs went from 18-20 to 10-12. Also in the east Louise Williams was an all-star and now in the west he's a nobody, conversely Lowry was an almost all-star in the West now he looks like an MVP contender and almost as good as Chris Paul in the East. So if Lopez is giving you 18 pts against mediocre east teams there s a chance he will get pulverized by the elite west teams, David Lee gets mocked for being a net negative and honestly Lopez lookst to me like a less athletic poor mans version of David Lee. Its more than his skills though, Lopez has injury issues and has a ridiculous contract, if OKC gets him I'd be extremely happy because that means we have a higher chance of pirating KD away.
Dwight's drop in numbers does have nothing to do with his increasing age, decline of athleticism and injuries? Plus his love for excessive postups
Agree it's not as important for Houston to get Brook Lopez but to at least raise the asking price for Oklahoma to get him. If they get Lopez for Lamb and Perkins they may become the favorites in the West. Make it Ibaka instead of Perkins and Houston did it's job. Not likely to happen quite that way, but that's the goal.
Lopez isnt as bad a defender as David Lee..... Sure, he has missed a lot of time via injuries, but he has also played whole seasons injury free. Not saying he is a legit max player, but skilled offensive 7 footers arent common.
Yeah he's not worth his contract but it's not like he's a scrub. Plus bigs are at a premium in this league.
I thought Shved cannot be included in a multi-player deal. Isn't he locked down by a trade restriction...or no?
People used to say this about James Harden, which of course was always stupid and doesn't even pass the smell test. There's no reason to use the same faulty logic when judging other players that other fans judge our players with. Offense and defense don't correspond linearly because there's the usage factor involved. If the Rockets trade for Lopez, they would use him as 20 minute bench player where he'll get a lot of offensive touches to maximize his offensive skills, and matching up against opposing backups who won't be able to take advantage of his weakness.
Dwight's decline has nothing to do with being in the west and he never averaged more than 14 boards afaik, what's this 20 20 talk that just never happened, the same goes for Lowry's rise it has nothing to do with transitioning from west to east, he's improved because he's worked hard and matured, and what are you talking about Louis Williams, he's been in the east forever and his game has been the same pretty much throughout. What about Deron Williams, in the west he was an almost all star putting up 20 and 10 and now in the east he sucks.
You should be happy there isn't. Morey didn't want Lopez. He just wanted to prevent OKC from getting Lopez for nothing. Lopez at this stage wouldn't be able to replace DMo on this team.
He never averaged 20 and 10. He was always more of a 14-16 and 7-9 guy through his career. In his best year, I'm pretty sure he was an 18 ppg guy. Alot of his decline has to do with him playing minutes at the two with the Nets and not being used the same way he was with the Jazz. That isn't to say I think the Rockets would should pick him up, but I would understand the line of thought behind potentially picking him up. If it happened, I would think that Morey is thinking we could use him right. But how well is that going with Howard?

You shouldve checked your Deron Williams claims before making them. It takes 5 seconds... and yes, he was 20 and 10 in 10/11. Also more than 20ppg in NJ (over 18ppg 6 times in his career) Personally i am on the 'heck no' wagon with Deron
Glad you checked. I'd had a look a ways back and was going off of memory. The point is, I believe a lot of his decline with the Nets can be attributed to how he's used relative to how the Jazz used him.
Morey is a "value investor" a la Warren Buffett. He's the kind of guy who picks up and saves pennies he sees on the ground. All the constant churning, all the deals that almost happen, all the second round picks - he works in slight value gains repeated many times over, like the guy who eventually started from a single red paperclip and ended up converting it to a house. If he believes Lopez is worth $5 and is being sold for $4.90, his natural inclination will be to offer $4.91, with the idea of selling it on for $5 down the line. I'm guessing he saw the rumors of the OKC deal and thought he could up the ante and possibly walk away with a steal. He probably didn't even have a plan for how to flip him in place yet, just saw something valuable being sold for pennies on the dollar and thought he could get in. Rockets don't need him, and Morey wouldn't pay full price, but I bet if it would have been cheap enough, he would have pulled the trigger.
