^ its worse than you think. They actually watch the games on TNT and STILL spew that ignorance. They actually did a mini reddit AMA during halftime and their answers were the same load of nonsense as on TV. For example they were asked multiple times about you is the dominant big man of today and their answers ranged from "no one" to "I destroyed them all" (Shaq) to "me" (chuck). No mention of boogie or even pau. Their answers are purely ratings driven and they know exactly what to say
What I don't get about this "hot take" is that we won the game. We destroyed Brooklyn, the game was over by the 3rd quarter. I could understand the soft accusations if Garnett got into Dwight's head and that resulted in us coughing up the game but Dwight essentially laughed it off. So throwing a punch to make a point is more important than winning the game? Are we watching basketball or hockey? The famous fight between Shaq and Barkley was barely a fight. Do they really think that sent a message through the league? The only message I got was that Barkley wanted no part of that game.
I'm a little disappointed with your comment breh! The Rockets on ANY given night, against ANY team can come out on top! Always, always, always keep hope alive! Spoiler BARKLEY SUCKS!!!... GO ROCKETS!!! ....... ....... .......
to be fair I thought we were going to get smoked as well. God I dont know who this team is anymore lol
Barkley was never in the Finals but Howard was...FACT. His commentary is just flat out stupid as he never made it out of the conference finals. I can see Shaq's point on some of Howard's play. Howard could assert himself more but that's personality not ability.
Besides that Yao would never score over 20 pts thing, Barkley wasn't really biased against the Rox at all during the Tmac/Yao era. That squad always had a weaker and completely inept cast of players until around the Scolandry era and even then that bunch couldn't handle this current team IMHO. But you guys remember Barkley early in that Mavs/Rox 2005 series? Barkley: "He can play, Boy can play, etc etc" "If Yao Ming continues to play like this the Houston Rockets will win a championship." Those were similar if not the exact words Chuck uttered early to mid series. It seems that with every passing season Chuck's resent towards the Rockets organization is stronger and more emphasized. I thought he would be bitter from when he last retired to mellowing out now but that is not the case. Anybody wanna discuss these facts? It's a mighty strange nuance to me about this whole thing but it is what it is.
and the error in Barkley history (and MJ Finals history) was from a '01er. When reading the replies from most recent to oldest I was expecting a rookie
Barkley wouldn't be so bitter if he won a championship during his tenure in Houston. Why do people blame Pippen even with this current Chuck A-Hole uncovered? Chuck is stubborn and didn't wanna put the effort into winning a championship and Pippen had to flee from that BS... Give Pippen a break, it was all Barkley's fault obviously.
Barkley was a Rocket for three seasons before #33. He was the NBA's second leading rebounder in #33's year...putting up better numbers than a younger Dwight. What does #33 have to do with any of this? Barkley scored 23.5 ppg with 13.8 rebounds in 1999 playoffs #33 is the one who didn't show up. Total revisionist bs. .
How can fans be so wrong on facts in the internet age? Barkley won mvp and was in the finals against Jordan in a highly watched nba finals. Newbs
Chuck and Shaq just don't understand that today's NBA is not the same NBA they played in. If you time traveled a young Shaq into today's league, sure he'd still be a dominant player, but he would be less dominant than he was in the 90s when you could get away with a lot more physicality. There's a reason why the best post players today are much more "finesse" than they used to be--that's how you have to play if you don't want to foul out every game. If Dwight was "more assertive" like Shaq wants him to be, he'd play less than 25 minutes a night because of foul trouble.
I'm surprised that they fail to acknowledge that all 5 starters average in double figures which offsets the need of Howard being overly dominant. If you look at the Spurs model, Tim Duncan doesn't straight up dominate. That team plays as a unit which is what the Rockets are trying to and should strive for.
It's about angles. Barkley had natural pure talent but based on Pippen's comments Im very certain that Barkley wasn't a team player. Maybe that's why he couldn't get over the hump and win a championship though he hit his prime a few years before Jordan did.
