Hah I was going to post this same thing! I was just waiting on Dallas to be mentioned after Cuban sees our name mentioned.
I'm pretty sure it has to be aggregated with other contracts for that to be true. Hence Brandon Wright and jameer nelson being traded twice already
[rQUOTEr]The Houston Rockets were also probing the Nets on Lopez too, league sources said. The Miami Heat have also remained connected to discussions on Lopez, sources said. The Thunder and Nets were discussing a larger package for the one-time All-Star center that included guard Jeremy Lamb and center Kendrick Perkins from the Thunder, league sources said. The Nets had been working to find a third team to take Perkins and his expiring contract, sources said, until discussions with the Thunder cooled. There had been discussions on Lopez with Charlotte, Denver and the Los Angeles Lakers, but those didn't gain traction, league sources said. Lopez, 26, has a player option of $16.7 million on his contract for the 2015-16 season, which he's almost certain to exercise based on the foot injuries that have plagued him the past few years. Lopez makes $15.7 million this season. He was an Eastern Conference All-Star in 2013, but missed most of the 2014 season with a recurrence of a foot injury. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...-acquire-brook-lopez-from-nets-170834007.html[/rQUOTEr]
[/QUOTE] There is no way that Morey is remotely interested in that deal, unless someone like PHX wants him. This makes absolutely no sense.
Nuggets have Nurkic as a rising youngster and McGee, no need for Lopez. Plus Lawson alone should be worth more.
The Rockets need a big man replacement for DMo once he is traded to Phoenix for Dragic. No reason why we can't replace one seven footer who doesn't rebound for another. DOFs, bring forth your ire.
Morey wouldn't make that trade. He is only trading for Brook if its a 3 way deal, in which he wouldn't be getting Brook. Dump some picks, pick up Dragic. Don't gut your team in the process.
Or maybe Morey was interested in another Nets player like Dwill or Jack and just seeing what he could get for either of those players. Jack off the bench and we would have the deepest team in the league depending on what we gave up.
On another note, its obvious Morey is just driving the price up for Lopez. We have a solid big man rotation, he's not gonna gut the team for a injury prone center at a position that we have a superstar in. I agree regarding the three team trade. Idk if phoenix makes that deal though they really overvalue dragic.
We're hard capped this year, so I'd image that would pretty difficult to pull off from a financial point of view.
Not enough people are mentioning the fact that Morey had alot of upside to get in the negotiations to act as a 3rd or 4th team in the deal to bridge the gap, and come out with a key piece like say... Reggie Jackson (just speculation). I'm sure if Morey is also able to- A. Drive up the price for a WCF competitior and B. Maybe land a talent like Lopez for next to nothing Its more than worth his time to at least make the call. However, my personal speculation is the ultimate goal might have been mostly to be an acting facilitator to get the Rockets a player maybe like RJackson... although I'm not sure how high the Rockets are on Jackson. Its just a guess.
