Have you considered applying for a job with the Washington Generals?

I guess the one game I will remember was an intramural championship game in college. I hit a bunch of 3's in the 2nd half and we won in a comeback. I wanted to go celebrate afterwards, but everyone else just got back to their studies -- so lame. #Rice

I miss basketball too. I dream about it all the time.

I'm only 5'11 and I dunked exactly once. I had home court advantage, as I was on my driveway. ..And by myself practicing in case the Rockets needed my skills that week. Normally I would fly towards the rim with the ball ready to be slammed hard thru the net and get rejected by that pesky rim, but not this time. I dunked. Right side of the rim, right handed. The adrenaline shot running thru me was unbelievable.

Later, I measured my rim to make sure it was still at 10 feet. Alas, it was 9'10.5". Still not easy to dunk on, but I found out it wasn't the real deal. Oh well…. Rockets never called me either. Helluva shame. ;)

I played in a league that was something like 13-15 year olds when I was 13. I was decent for a 13 year old, but not good when playing against older kids. There's a big post season tournament that serves as the playoffs and crowns the champ.

We were a decent team and in the 2nd or 3rd round we had to face the best team in the league, a team against whom we had no chance. But for some reason I was absolutely on fire from 3 in that game. I hit what felt like 800 three-pointers (it was probably about 5) and had what was far-and-away my best game of the season.

So down by two with very little time left (a minute or so) I was in-bounding the ball at a time where I was usually riding the pine. Very cool for me.

The opposing PG was down on our side of the court to be near his man when his man brought the ball up the court, but he wasn't really pressing or doing anything that would give me any difficulty in in-bounding the ball. For some reason, as soon as the ref gave me the ball I went to inbounds it; as in, that very instant I got the ball I passed it like a hot potato. Unfortunately, the guy who was supposed to bring the ball up was looking at the coach because the coach was telling him something. The ball ricocheted off of him and went right to his defender, who scooped it up and got the easy layup to put his team up by 4 and effectively seal the game.

My coach and everyone on my team were very confused and looking at me like "Uhhh... wtf did you do that for?" And I didn't know. I didn't know why I did that. Why in the f*** did I do that? I knew what the situation was (I had a slow five count to pass the ball in and there was no pressure being applied) and I knew to only pass to a guy who's looking at me. So I had no idea why I just suddenly fired the ball at a guy who wasn't looking. All I could do was look sad and say "sorry - my bad."

9th grade in high school during gym class. We are playing three on three when the guy I'm guarding goes by me and goes for the layup. I'm able to recover and block his lay up at the rim. When i blocked his shot I followed through and most of the palm of my hand hit the back board. When it happened I didn't think I actually hit it, but everyone else stopped playing after that block and one guy said "You looked like you were walking on air the way you got up there." I was able to jump high enough to touch the rim. I'm 5' 5'', so i was shorter in 9th grade making this even more amazing play for me. I miss playing pick up games :(.

Calvin Murphy was friends with someone from my elementary school back in the late 70's and came out and was giving us some tips on the black top. Showed me how to do a reverse layup then made fun of me shooting my free throws like rick barry (who was one of my favorite rockets at the time). Showed me proper form which served me well when I was younger.

I was playing in the 1st round of the city league playoffs in 7th grade. My team only had 6 players on the roster. We were up about 7 points when a 3rd player fouled out, leaving our team with 3 against 5. They played a full court press, which palpably kept us from doing anything. We did pretty well at keeping them from scoring too many baskets, and we were down 1 with about 8 seconds to go. Our tallest guy inbounded. The other player and I ran around desperately to get open; we were both being double-teamed. I finally broke free, received the inbounds pass, and ran for the sideline. I was hoping to make it around the double team and put up a last second three pointer. As I reached the corner, I was pushed out of bounds. I'm thinking, "Dang, now we have to inbound again." But the referees had actually called a foul, and it happened to put us in the bonus with two seconds to go. I remember it being eerily quiet during the first free throw. I took a breath, then banked in the front end of the one and one. My second free throw was no good off the back of the rim. The tall guy on my team caught it, turned, and put it back in at the buzzer. We won and moved on to the semifinals.

I usually play in the post, but I had one magical day in 1991 where I was hitting everything from the outside. I'm talking 10 in a row type stuff. Didn't matter who was guarding me or how tight, if the shot went up it was going in. I even felt comfortable dribbling against little guys. It was amazing. I've never come close to being that hot again. I've had a handful of plays that I remember well, but I won't bore you with those narratives.

I think it was in tenth grade. It was end of semester exams and I believe I was exempt from taking it.

Anyway, the story is this we were playing four on four halfsies. I don't recall who won or lost, but I remember I filled the stat sheet. I had one point, a **** load of rebounds and steals and five blocks. I blocked everyone on their team.

That same day, was the day I thought I was on my way to dunking a basketball. There was a volley ball or some type of soft ball on the ground. I picked it up and stepped a few feet back. I dunked the **** barely. Greatest feeling ever. I was only 15, so I figured that pretty soon, I would be dunking. Yup, and that never happened again.

The closest I ever got to dunking was On a 9 feet 6 inch rim.

Non basketball related. We had to play three weeks of hockey. Two weeks for the season and a week of playoffs. I think that's what we did.

I played goalie and I dominated that ****.

I was playing like dominik Hasek.

Once went to the local basketball club after they invited me (someone saw me playing alone on a court and thought I was nice). So I dominated the game in a way I never did, felt like I hit 90% of my shots (in the face, long 3s, everything), did a 360 layup around a defender, behind the back pass on a fastbreak etc. Must've scored around 40 points, which were more than half of my team.

Never went there again because their level was too bad for me, but was too lazy to go to a better club because of the driving distance.

That was my one game professional basketball career.

so I have two I guess

first one was back maybe 9-10 years ago I worked near UCLA and would still go play by the dorms since there was always plenty of pickup games going on there.

I went there once with my roommate, a co-worker and her BF. Now this co-worker was someone who I liked a lot and was cute. My roommate knew I had a little crush on her. We joined a pick up game but my roommate and I were on one team and the BF was on the other. My Co-worker watched. The BF said before we started that he was going to ball this court up. I had never seen him play but I had heard from some other co-workers he was pretty good. The game was 4 vs 4 - up to 11 everything was one point. My roommate said I should just post this guy up and keep scoring on him and make him look bad and you good in front of her especially after what he said before the start. But we were not matched up against each other at the start.

My roommate made sure I got the ball early in the post -and I quickly scored 4 baskets and the BF got pissed and switched off on me. At that point I knew I was rolling and so did my teammates. I kept going in the post and could not miss - after each made basket he kept getting pissed and cussing loud. My co-worker kept trying to calm him down. At the end of the game it was 11-6 and I had scored 10 of the 11 baskets and was 10-13 from the field. The BF didn't want to play again and left after that first game.

My roommate told me I should go ask for her number the next day at work.

The second time was a bit before I was at a local La Fitness and there were these "ballers" there who chose teams and it was not really fair. Everyone on my team was shorter than their shortest guy and not nearly as fast or athletic. The sterotypical older guy watching there kept harping on how the teams were not fair. We started to play - like the very first play of the game I got dunked on - was not fun. But whatever - the next play I still kept playing hard defense and the guy I was guarding said 'you were just dunked on why you still playing defense?' he got the ball spun and scored over me on a layup pretty easy. He then made a sportscenter sound.

So the team I was on was not super talented but we just hustled. So we kept just hustling as much as we could - we had one guy and me who could shoot so we would shoot 3s since they were worth 2 (game was up to 15) and these guys didnt take us seriously from outside and gave us space.

The other team was up 7-2 when one of my teammates was dunked on badly and they were talking mad **** to him - i mean it was like tom chambers type of dunked on. So down 8-2 we just said we cant stop them if they dunk but we can just play hard and hope some of our 3s go in. Well the 3s started to go in -- the next two trips down I hit 2 of them and it was 8-6. Next drive down the game was tied when another one of my teammates hit a 3.

The guy who dunked on me said he would play seriously now he posted me up and i stepped away to pull the chair and stole the ball ran down and shot another 3. We were up 10-8 now. The people waiting for next and the old guy were going nuts calling us the "walk-on" team beating the scholarships players. and they started making the sportscenters sounds for us.

The other team came back though and were up 14-13 and we had the ball. They were taking it super seriously now body everyone up like at half court and it was tough to even dribble and get free. I finally managed to get some space coming off a screen and caught turned and faked a 3. My defender flew by and then I shot the 3. went in game over. The people waiting for the next game actually ran onto the court -- they weren't coming to celebrate with us -- they went to go clown on the other teams (i guess they were all friends) -- the old guy who was there watching said that it was the greatest game he had seen at that gym. Me and the other guys played the next game and got killed, but it didnt matter at that point we had everyone's respect by then.
