Why is sympathy for Islam so common on the political left?

But they're not usually sympathetic to groups who are intolerant and sexist.

No, sir. Christians would be the first to tell you that we are not awesome - our brokenness is why we need a Savior. That being said, no true Christian agrees with slavery or racism, period. Also, if you want to cherry pick, look at who ended up leading the charge to end slavery and promote civil rights in the U.S. and the UK. It was Christians.

 

I'll answer your question with a question. Does calling attention to a wrong committed against a group constitute the whole-hearted support of the group in question?
