No it wasn't dream just started getting older. Father time is undefeated. We lost the supersonics in 96.

you speak like a 99er, brother

Pippen will always be the worst franchise pickup of all time.

Some may say Barkley, but fact is we got to game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. WE HAVE NOT COME CLOSE SINCE THAT TIME.

When Pippen left the organization we got thrown into the dark ages. We got nothing in return from Portland, even though I like Walt Williams.

Barkley has his issues with Houston but as a player, he was brought in to beat Seattle and he did. It was them, not the mythological michael jordan teams that were our real worry if we'd met in 94 and 95.

I'm happy we got Barkley, also newbs think the Rockets being on national tv all the time is a given right..

it's NOT a given right, in fact, it start with Barkley. we were on TV like 10x more when we go him than before.

Never liked the Barkley trade. He was not part of the defensive mentality of that Rockets team and he took way too much time away from Hakeem in the post, who was a far superior post player. Losing Cassell and Horry made the trade that much worse.

However, I agree ... Pippen was the worst Rockets acquisition in terms of destroying team chemistry.

Yeah, and after OKC kicks our ass tomorrow, Barkley and Shaq are just going to continue to tear us up.

Pippen and Barkley were old farts when they arrived here. Barkley gave effort.

They should have employed younger players to begin with.

    Kudos to him

did you even watch houston rockets basketball then?

you have such random comments unless it's about mcgrady.

ask anyone who's been around, the rockets were barely on tv even after we won two titles, once we got barkley, we were on tv all the time.

Barkley wasn't that old, but his window was 2 years
Pippen had a longer window so we gave him max salary, Pippen was the #1 free agent when we got him, every Rockets fan was excited , it was like how we felt when we got Dwight Howard.

for the record, Otis Thorpe is older than Barkley, so we actually got younger at PF. Barkley recorded 19 pts and 13.5 rebounds his first season with us, coming off a 23 ppg season. His scoring went down because he became part of a big three. And he was 2nd leading rebounder in the NBA the year we got #33.

I don't know if I completely agree with this but I do wish we were able to keep the Rockets key players from our championship run like Sam Cassell and Robert Horry and developed them more like the Spurs organization did with their players instead of going on full panic mode and trading for Barkley. The Spurs have done a wonderful Job with an aging Dream and switching their offensive focus on Parker. Sam Cassell and Horry deserved to retire a Rocket. So did Mario Elie. I am glad they got their rings else where though. Morey seems to be doing what we did that 95 96 season which is to constantly panick. You don't trade a dollar for four quarters and this is what the Rockets did this season and now the entire team is just inconsistent as Jeremy Lin was.

Spoke with a buddy who just so happens to be a producer at Turner.
Basically Barkley, Kenny, and Shaq do not study notes before or after games. They are not included in the run down (which is a moment before the show to freshen up on stats and league news), only EJ. So the notion that they have no idea what's going on is true.

Barkley doesn't put on a persona. He actually tones down what he says on air compared to him saying all types of crap about players and what not off air. Nothing is scripted which is why they stick to their own opinions throughout the years.
I'll try and get more information.

Can someone tweet Tad's quotes to Barkley to see if he will address them?

Pippen was the Harbinger of Doom for this franchise. Ever since he donned a Rocket uniform, this team has toiled away year after year and only made it out of the first round once. While I hate what Barkley has become, I will never hate him for what he did while he was in a Rockets uniform. Pippen is not extended that same courtesy.

You really think Barkley tweets? No chance. He wouldn't get into that. At best, he has a PR person at TNT who tweets for him.

You are right in that we didn't actually make it to the conference finals since. I think the Yao/McGrady/Battier team the year we lost to Dallas in 7 was a juggernaut... shoulda, coulda, woulda though.

Walt Williams and Glen Rice, the two people that if they were on the opposing team would give you that sinking feeling when thier feet lined up behind the 3 point line and the ball left their hand. Even today, yeah Curry, Harden, Korver etc are great shooters, but the form and perfection of Glen and Walt shooting that 3 ball was scary.
