A good coach would have this team playing to its strengths, unfortunately, we have McHale. I dont think the loss would bother me as much if the team was hustling and trying their best and just got beat... instead, it looked like they just gave up in the last 4 minutes of the game last night. Is it the coaching? Is it the players? Is it some combination of the two? IDK, but I just hope they figure it out by the time the playoffs start or else I fear another 1st round exit when I believe this team has the talent to go much further than that. Fortunately, they still have plenty of time.
How the HELL is this Howard's fault? Man you guys jump on a freaking bandwagon and go crazy.... Freaking Ridicules... T_Man
Dave you're correct..... Bev's defense was awful last night and McHale should have switched up the defense with Brewer and Ariza on the court at the same time... DMo defense was off also and here is where the problem comes in... Smith defense was good last night, but his decision making on offense is freaking scary at times. I think it was Ziggy who stated Most coaches make changes in the game... McHale makes changes after 3 or 4 games.. T_Man
Some of you guys need to get a girlfriend or something. It's an 82 game season! These type of games are inevitable. Sometimes, you just come out flat and the other team has a few guys that are on fire that night. The Rockets didn't play THAT bad, Oladipo just had an amazing night. Other teams have to get some credit some of the time. I understand that this team can be frustrating to watch recently, but all the pissing and moaning is embarrassing. I don't know if Oladipo was playing above his head or if he was giving us a glimpse of the future last night, but I was entertained..... Isn't that why we watch basketball?
I agree with the 82 games, i agree with the sometime teams come out flat.... But here is the issue that i and most of us have... This team is deep with talent, basically you have 5 guys that are coming off the bench that have either started or could start on another team. So it makes no freaking sense to stay with a group that is not producing. As Dave_78 stated, why not put Brewer in the game to slow down the guards.. You could have but Brewer on Oli and Ariza on Crazy hair.. on offense you move Harden to the point. The problem I have with close games is the coach and his decision making and adaptability.... T_Man
its not 'these type of games' every single game rockets are plyaing wrong kind of basktball...not playing to their strenghts...
Josh is simply a terrible bb player... for every cuople of good moves he offers a dozen of bad ones...
I'm starting to see what you see now. But Mchale has to do better job at putting him where he is most effective and efficient. Coach also need to tell him exactly what he needs him to do.
yes, I think the problem is bad habits are sometimes hard to get rid off even if you want it... its like the wife beater... i am sure half of wife beaters are sincere when they promise the wont beat they wifes again...however in the heat of the moment they switch to theirdefault habitual reaction...
Rockets played a really good team last night. Not making excuses as the Rockets are a better team, but I feel that they were peaking a bit in to the future. Bev really ups the Rockets intensity and toughness, but he isn't cutting it as a starter. He struggles to set guys up and turns the ball over too much. With the looks he gets from three point range, he should be shooting 45% at the minimum. They are wide open corner looks. It is really frustrating to watch. Ariza albeit boneheaded does play within himself most of the time which is something I can't say about Beverley.
They are 3rd in the standings. So please explain to me how we are tanking to avoid OKC or SAS. Right now The Warriors and Trailblazers are better than us at this point. The only team that actually has our number is the Clippers.
Wonder how hard it would be to steal one of Popps minions and make him or her I guess, a headcoach here. Becky Hammon anyone?
Struggling with the Nets? 23 pt 4th quarter lead, and starters who played 3 quarters and didn't play over 30 minutes? That's struggling? Okay.
A good coach would bench his ass the moment he puts up a 3-pointer(aside from last second ones with the shotclock about to expire). There is no excuse for Smith to ever attempt 4 or more 3-pointers in a game. An occasional corner shot, fine. He does make those once in a while. But the rest are just wasted possessions. It's like Dwight taking an 18-footer from the top of the key. If it's a bad percentage shot, DON'T ATTEMPT IT!!! Again, this goes back to McHale. He's either not instructing these guys to play smarter or he's not holding them accountable when they ignore his orders. Either way, it's on him to play the guys who'll listen.
One of the reasons players like playing for McHale is that this doofus holds no one accountable. Smith will continue to jack up outside shots and McHale will continue to play him without yanking him out immediately to send a point across. This team right now is winning based on the great MVP season Harden is having and long may it continue. When it comes to late game execution or in game coaching, we suck and that is all on McHale
McHale was absolutely too slow to react to what was going on in the game and kudos to whoever said Ariza and Brewer should have been on their speedy pg and sg. Bev and Harden allowed too much penetration into the paint. Back off and dare them to shoot. Instead, our perimeter players tried to play in your face d and got badly burned.
