I've seen two out of the best picture nods. I think Boyhood will take it home.

Has anyone seen Birdman? How was it?

Birdman was great. Keaton seriously kicked ass. Same with Foxcatcher and Steve Carell. Amazing movies imo, pure quality from start to finish.

For me Boyhood was the best, but I've yet to see American Sniper. Boyhood was just perfection and I don't even know why, it was just great. Loved all of the Houston, San Marcos, Austin scenes. Brought back some serious memories.

Inherent Vice was boring as hell to me, fell asleep about 30 minutes in. Nightcrawler was great, but I really think it was only due to Gyllenhaal's acting alone. Grand Budapest was OK, but I watched it on a plane back from the BVI and couldn't really get into it. I'll probably re-watch as I was exhausted on the plane ride.

Interesting. The general opinion is that this was a very strong year for movies. Give the Best Picture nominees a watch and see what you think. Pretty much all of them were quite good.

Birdman is a little overblown, but its a solid watch for sure, I thought Edward Norton was really good. But no one is beating JK Simmons for Whiplash.

Apparently, I haven't watched any movies for the last year.

Alot of ****ty movies this year.

my understanding was that financially it was one of Hollywood's worst years. Lowest level of tickets sold since 1995.

It was outstanding. Unlike anything I've ever seen. In some ways, very strange...yet at the same time very human and accessible. I loved it. I'd love to see Keaton shock the world by winning this year.

But I think Boyhood is taking home all the Oscars.

LOL! Is that what you base your "Best Picture" nomination on? LOLs.

Well in that case, why isn't "Waar" a Best Picture? :p

Meh. Who gives a crap about this? If you're not a good actor or actress, you're just not a good actor or actress no matter if you're green, purple, white, or blue-colored.

I have never seen any Asian (Indian included) complaints about this at all.

Yeah, the media is out of control.

12 Years a Slave wins best film last year, along with the girl who won best supporting actress, but over the past year those liberal minded Hollywood folks have suddenly regressed to racism.

Yeah, that's not what I said at all. I was just refuting your claim that everyone thought it was crap.

If Grand Budapest Hotel wins best picture then I will know the Oscars have hit rock bottom. I'm talking Grammy awards rock bottom!

I think it's been pretty deep but 12 Years a Slave and Dallas Buyers seemed way better to me than anything that was nominated this year.

Again, if you have not seen Whiplash - ignore the trailers and see it. The less you know the better, its outstanding.

To be honest, there aren't a lot of roles for Asians in America, so even if we did complain, there's not a lot there to complain about. The problem starts with the foundation, not the apex.

I don't believe you, much less with the "to be honest" stuff. There are plenty of great Asian actors, and some are waiting to be given a chance. I say F what their eyes look like. AND I'm saying that complaining or posting the ABC thing above is "meh"... it's not a knock on Asians not complaining, it's that I admire that Asians don't complain.

B.D. Wong, Watanabe, etc., etc., can play a good dang cop or anything else in a dramatic movie no matter what the plot is. And why does it have to be a role "for Asians in America"? Why can't a movie have a person whose nationality or ancestry isn't mentioned or isn't even a factor in the story? Baloney.

 F#($ the Antonio Banderas as Villa complex. There were plenty of Mexicans who could have played Pancho Villa but no one was good enough, so they picked him. I'm not mad bro about that at all. He did a great job.

I've only seen Grand Budapest, enjoyed it but I'm not sure it's the best movie of the year. I have high hopes for American Sniper. Bradley Cooper seems like a cool dude.
