Dwight did what's best for Dwight during his free agency. Rox as an organization doesn't owe him anything. right now Dwight is showing that he's an offensively limited player, and he isn't nearly as dominant on defense as people give him credit for. if anything, Rox are getting a raw deal now that they are paying $20 million + to a man who can't even be their second scoring option.
2 things 1. You don't know **** cause you only have 66 post newbie! 2. Dwight standing 2 feet away from any opponent is the greatest defender in NBA history!
Its amazing how many of the posters saying Howard is replaceable will be right back on the bandwagon when the playoffs start and he starts getting 22+/12+ singing his praises.
i have been a Rockets fan since 1985, way before Clutchfans even existed, you moron. Dwight may have once been a dominating force on defense, but he's not doing that for the Rockets this season. if you don't see that, then i question your judgement. my allegiance is to the Rockets as a team, not to any one player. these are professional atheletes and they are getting paid more in one season than we could possibly make in our entire life time. so if they are not giving their all on the court, then i see no reason why we can't be critical of their performance. now shut up and go watch some games.
His stats in January have been pretty pedestrian maybe even comparable to his rookie days. He looks more tired even injured you could say. I agree I would prefer an injury free Dwight but from reading the first 2-3 pages of this thread I can only assume this is a knee jerk thread. It's not even 3 games ago Dwight put up 17 pts/19 rebs. Who out of the roster would replace Dwight and give us a chance to win? You would rather slide Dmo/Smith over there? Dwight is still a top 5 center in the NBA, he's playing hurt but at least he's still playing. He's not going to ever get back to the numbers he put in in Orlando in his prime. Wear and tear people, this team is better with Harden as it's leader and I'm pretty content with Howard putting up less stats if it means that we have more depth on the roster. We all knew what we were getting when we signed Dwight. Looking past no real offensive move, he's typically not a great passer and an even worse free throw shooter. Let's not expect Noah or Gasol type passing from a big man please. Anyone who thinks DeAndre Jordan for Dwight Howard is insane, I think you guys are reading way too much into the media hype. I recall seeing various reports of the Nets interesting in luring JVG into their head coaching position (when Avery Johnson was fired a few seasons ago) and I asked JVG himself (when he stopped by to eat). Guess what he said to me? Don't believe what everything the media says.
I guess common sense was in short supply as well, sense I called you a newbie when if you look at my comment Count I am also a newbie.. And calling Dwight the best defender of all time is something no1 would ever say seriously... Duh...duh...duh...
Off topic: but man it's funny seeing Howard repost all the rockets NBABALLOT post on Instagram these past weeks, even after the game last night he reposted one. If you make it cool if you don't cool, I've never saw a player during the season try to get people to vote for him, especially someone that's known like he is...... Thought ?
Without Howard we could not play our style on offense or defense. A lot of what we are is built around his skills, even if he is not filling the box score
Let's be honest. Howard's career is on a downward spiral. Persistent knee injuries and back problems will hinder his athleticism. And let's be honest, it's his athleticism that defines his games. He's got minimal offensive move and he can't shoot. I'd say turn him into a Ben Wallace type player like others have suggested and make D-Mo our 2nd option. It's the only way. The organization knows it and the fans know it.
This Dwight we're seeing right now is absolutely replaceable. Just look at the advanced stats. Where does he excel compared to other centers? I'm hoping though the dominating Dwight returns in the playoffs like last year.
i am not asking to trade Dwight because we wouldn't get equal value in return at this point, but if can, i would even do it for Brooks Lopez. all i am looking for in the center position is someone who plays hard all the time and doing the dirty work underneath. i just feel that Dwight thinks too highly of himself to make himself a garbage man. in the last ten games or ever since his return from injury, he's pretty much been a net negative when on the court. just not impacting the game in any way at all. disappointing to see what he has become after the Blazers series.
Compulsive thread and thought. Without Dwight there would be no Josh Smith to the Rox on $2mill deal. Dwight is hurt right now and needs to get back into shape.
