Doesn't help I have a POS Galaxy S3 that can't keep up with the messages from more than 5 people texting at a time in group text. But seriously, why the hell doesn't Android have a leave group option? I wanna do like a 50 people group text to each android developer and see how much of their soul they have left when their phone is still downloading group texts from an hour ago. relevant question, is there a way to get out of it without replacing the stock messenger app?
I always thought there should be an option to send a group text... but have it appear as an individual text to the receiver, and if they reply to that it automatically doesn't reply to everybody. There are times where you want to send the same message to a lot of people (an invite or a notification), but you don't want them all to be replying in a group format where everybody can see. Sort of like a blind CC feature.
It's just like reply all in emails. You are at the mercy of those sending. I prefer using a group chat program like hangouts, groupme, etc. and I am pretty sure all of those allow you to leave the group.
i was recently in a group text that had 25 straight lines of emoticons in 30 seconds. I almost threw my phone against the wall. literally locked up my phone and I couldn't do anything else while waiting for it to load the messages
Why would you use the default messenger for group texts (unless you have an iPhone for imessage.) Apps like WhatsApp are way better because you can just mute the group and still get the benefit of being a participant of the group. You can also leave at will
I think the majority of phone users use the default messenger in general so when someone adds you into a group text you can't really pick and choose (as far as I know)
I never understood why this was an option it is stupid as ****. . . . and worse to make it the default setting is assinine Rocket River
Hate me some group texts. if new ios lets you duck out of being a part of the commencing barrage, that's a feature I can get with... might even make me upgrade my 3gs.
My wife gets these every night from her teacher friends. Pretty much non-stop from the time she gets home until she goes to bed. She never replies. I literally have to turn the data off on her phone sometimes. Do these women not have lives? You're not in high school anymore. Put down the phone and pay some attention to your families while you're at home.
Android lets you mute the notifications to that specific group text. You can go back and read it later if you so choose. Android>iOS
I like GroupMe much more, but most of my friends just use the in-phone group messaging. It can get pretty annoying when I'm not in a position to reply, but they keep responding to each other.
