If Dragic is off the table i'd be more than content with Lawson. NOP 1st round pick + Rocket 2016 1st round pick + Shved + Terry....Is that enough? no clue....
I like how you went from talking about Lawson for right now and somehow added Durant in the future haha. Three guard combo of Harden, Lawson, and Beverly would be huge in the playoffs. I just think they would want more than Capella, Papa, and the Pelicans pick. If I were Denver, I'd want DMo as well.
Should we make this the official "2015 Trade Deadline Speculation" thread, or do we need to create a new thread? As a reminder, the deadline is February 19th I believe, and Shved, and Brewer cannot be traded in combination with other players until February 15th (or technically the 14th at some point in the day I think). The big questions that coming up the next 4 weeks- -Why did Morey go out of his way to get the Shved expiring contract? -Would Morey feel comfortable trading D-Mo knowing Jones will be back at some point? -Will Morey put valuable rotation players like Ariza, Terry, & Brewer in trade talks to get a large salary player? -Will Morey make room on the roster for Capela & Johnson to get more PT? -Will Papanikolaou & Canaan have a future on this team? and then there is the speculation about who Morey will be going for. -Will he go for a big name max guy? (Melo, Bosh, etc.) -Will he go for a PG exclusively? (Dragic, Lawson, Bledsoe, etc.) -Will Morey stay the course because this team is ready to compete & doesn't want to screw with chemistry?
Tough to gauge the veracity of sportswriters' reports, but I remember something about the Denver Nuggets locker room being a bit anti-Faried. That he had maybe gotten full of himself during the basketball World Cup (whatever it was called). Denver was obliged to pay him, but he isn't really a "Let's-build-around-him" guy. If they can shed themselves of his 12 million per season for a high draft pick, maybe a clean slate is best.
I highly doubt that Moreies feels this is a finished product. From what I've read on CF's, it's seems that they are going all in THIS year, couple that with Maurice nature to deal and I'm pretty certain we are going to be players come the Feb. deadline! ....... ....... .......
Lawson is attempting only 3 threes a game and shooting them at 34%. It might be wiser to spend less assets on a better fit.
I think this thread will suffice for all speculation on any roster moves. My outsider guesses in red; we'll see how it plays out.
It comes down to the debate of Good depth & chemistry around 1 or 2 stars or 3 stars & cheap role players. I personally don't think this is a finished product from Morey, or at least it wasn't PLANNED to be. But Morey never expected Terry to be this vital to the team, he probably didn't think Ariza would ever be expendable, and I'm pretty sure Shved was acquired mostly for his mid-sized expiring contract to help with trades (even though it sounds like McHale is very intrigued with using him). I dunno, I think there is merit to both sides.... that is IF this team develops better chemistry and starts playing better (even in wins, I feel like the team is still a bit out of sync).
cyberx, are the Rockets interested in Calderon (officially on the market)? He's a 40% 3pt shooter but he's old and terrible on defense.
Why would we want him then? I don't see what advantages he has that'll help the Rockets. Depending on the price we pay, Dragic and Lawson will be our best choice. IMO
I do think we are going "all in" this year, but don't think Morey will pay just any price to go "all in". If I were the GM, this is my "checklist" for the deadline. 1) Call Cleveland about Love. Offer the moon. 2) Call New York about Melo. Offer the moon. 2) Call Phoenix. I'll take either Bledsoe or Dragic. Willing to "pay up", but no DMo. 3) Call Denver about Lawson. Offer expirings and a few nice pieces. No DMo or NOP 1st. 4) Call Minnesota about Rubio. Offer similar package as Lawson. 5) Sit tight.
Isaiah Thomas might be an option depending on what Phoenix decides to do of course. A small-ish contract and could immediately fit off the bench.
1/2) Do you really think he'll do that for Melo/Love, having 3 high priced players on a Morey team? 3) I think the NOP 1st has to be part of the deal. Don't see why Denver would do a trade that doesn't include it.
I think you are right on both accounts. To be honest, on the Good depth vs. 3 stars with cheap role players I'd rather have the latter instead of the former. Morey (IIRC) has stated on several occasions that he believes that you need 3 stars to have a legitimate chance at the title, and since I'm a MoreyMinion, I'll go with what the boss says. In Morey I Semi-Trust!... ....... ....... .......
1/2) Yes. He was willing to do it for Melo in free agency, and I think Love is a better fit for this team. The question isn't if Morey would do it......it's if the Cavs are ready to go in a slightly different direction and if both NYK and Melo (since he has the no-trade clause) are ready to hit the reset button. 3) You're probably right, but you have to remember that with Lawson, it's not just about the assets you're giving up......it's about the ability to be a significant player in free agency next summer. Everyone is dismissing 2015 free agency, but based on the Rockets moves, it sure doesn't seem they are. Are you willing give up any chance at Love/Aldridge this summer for Lawson? Things seem to change very quickly in this business.
