Haha this place is so predictable. Putting the rockets on blast over the 3rd string pg. If we're depending on our 3rd string pg to give us meaningful minutes then we don't have championship aspirations.
Just learned the D-League Showcase starts this Thursday... tons of GMs and scouts are in attendance for it. It's a great place to show talent (generally teams put all their assignees on display). http://www.nba.com/dleague/news/santa_cruz_hosts_showcase_2014_09_29.html Could explain why Canaan is there.
Trade him for what? What exactly can we get back for Shved that is more useful than Shved himself? Especially if he steps up as you suggest
It wouldn't be Shved by himself. He'd be apart of a deal that would include bring over a significant piece. Package him with Jones or Brewer or Pap, some picks, and maybe you can get a high-caliber player.
But the Vipers have a 9-12 record, so won't be playing. Your link says you have to be a top eight team?? Or am I missing something. The Showcase Cup is a single elimination tournament featuring the eight NBA D-League teams with the best records through and including Jan. 1, 2015 being seeded in a bracket and competing in two games each.
Have you guys ever considered watching the Real House Wives instead of the NBA? There doesn't seem to be quite enough drama in the NBA for you.
Covington was never gonna play ahead of Papa or Brewer. Save yourself the trouble and stop worrying about him.
Unless a team likes Shved's game in which case they wouldn't demand too much from the rest of a trade. Not necessarily a contract throw in. We let Covington go, which means we wasted a possible trade piece.
Ever consider not being a douche? I like Canaan and watching him play was fun, and I don't think he'll respond well to the demotion unless it's for the showcase. That makes me dramatic?
The best thing for our rotation is for Alexey Shved to become the playmaker off the bench at PG that we need so Terry can go back to the 2. Shved was not a throw in in the Brewer trade. Morey went after him specifically from Philly and McHale said immediately Shved was going into the rotation along with Brewer. At the time there was a thought that maybe both guys could be flipped later on but Brewer is too important to our wing depth to consider moving him and hopefully Shved becomes integral.
Robert Covington spent a month on the street before Philly picked him up. Anybody could have had him for free.
Shved has an expiring contract anyway. I don't care what he does. Nobody is going to look at half a season of Shved and say "that is the guy we have to get" and give up anything for him him. It's not gonna happen. He is a role player on an expiring contract who said he might go back to Europe after the season.
The schedule shows the Vipers playing on the 16th and 18th in the Showcase in Santa Cruz. http://dleague.nba.com/schedule/
You don't think a team wants an expiring contract for a capable player? Expiring contracts are great for trades because then the GM can have cap space in the offseason. That's trading 101. And if we had played Covington more and he played the way he is playing in Philly, we could have used him as a trade filler. It's really simple. Cheap, good role players + good draft picks = trade for a good starting player on their last year of a contract. How do you think we got Harden?
DM is just hiding him in the Dleague to get more minutes and exposure for the guys we wanna trade... Shved, Terry, KPap....
ah, thx...the Cup is just a subset of the games. Everybody goes and plays, but not all are "Cup" games. http://dleague.nba.com/news/2015-nba-d-league-showcase-presented-by-samsung-tips-off-january-15/
