Well then they blew it, Rick Smith was the right and only choice. All they had to do was make an offer.
i'm curious to what kubiak will do differently this time around if he gets the bears job. i wish him luck. people forget that his offenses before schaub's seal accident that lost him his arm was always tops in the league. he envisioned a roster full of tight ends way before hoodie.
sources: (radio) kubiak is saying he is staying with the ravens. i guess he is still not ready health wise. a lot more stress having to smoke out with jay.
Rumors flying around twitter is that John Fox could be done with the Broncos now or next year, and that Elway would love to bring Kubiak back to coach his old team. I think Kubes would jump all over that.
Fox has a year left on his deal so Kubes is probably going to wait it out and then take his dream job next off season.
To put an end to all the comments on this thread. Gary Kubiak will remain the offensive coordinator for the Ravens.
No audibles Peyton, run the naked boot. But sir, Cameron Wake is so fast. Matt, get in the game. Okay, which play are we running? Bootleg or the other one?
Denver is going to make a full-court press for him now... they've requested permission from Baltimore. I can't really see Kubiak passing this one up... if he does, he likely doesn't get back into head coaching any time soon.
I actually think that might spell the end of the Manning era in Denver. They drop Manning, keep everyone else and let Kubiak run the offense. The alternative is keeping Manning (for just a year, really?) and losing everyone else (Thomas and Thomas are young elite studs that have 10+ years in them). Kubiak and old Manning? Not a match made in heaven. Then again Manning could just take a paycut.
do you really want to turn him into pic-6 peyton? Kubiak's system needs a QB with a strong arm. Everyone knows what freaking play he's gonna call. When you float it in his system, it's going the other way.
Gary will get back into head coaching because teams will line up to hire him, especially if Baltimore makes noise in the playoffs again next year. I could see Jacksonville nabbing him, especially if they don't make a big jump this year given their investment in Bortles (who could be great in a Kubiak system). Maybe Gary is sincere in that Baltimore feels like home and he could want to go the LeBeau route and have his legacy as being one of the best coordinators in the game.
I think that Kubiak has learned a lot from his time with the Texans. One of a head coach's biggest responsibilities is dealing with personalities, and Kubiak has always been considered a player's coach. I think he'll be able to go in there and find the right mix of accountability and "aw-shucks" and have some success. Especially after seeing and being apart of a program run by John Harbaugh.
They do? Why was Baltimore's offense better across the board this year? Let it go, man. No reason Gary Kubiak should be stuck in 2013 for the rest of his career. I would bet a large chunk of Raven fans aren't thrilled about the possibility of him and the offense apparently the entire NFL has solved leaving. (What the NFL solved, btw, was Schaub, who went fetal and became a checkdown machine. The Kubiak system still works, and works well. They did score 31 against the Patriots a few days ago...)
