It's a momentum killer when Beverly can't make a layup or Dwight looks clueless or you take out Josh Smith when he's playing hot...none of this makes sense.
And the players IGNORE his roll....if he had a guy that looked for that, he would be a 15-17ppg guy. DD
Ariza is a great defender and ultimately it outweighs his poor offensive game but man is his offensive atrocious.
That goes to coaching. The Rockets' roster isn't filled with a bunch of dumb players. These guys are capable of learning how to run plays and work within a system. The problem is McHale has never bothered to implement one. Now if that's because Morey is telling him not to and insisting on jacking up 3's, trying to draw fouls, and running a bunch of Harden ISO's, they need to realize this isn't working. Yes, they're 25-11, but that's fool's gold. The West is loaded and having home court and the 4th best record in the conference last year didn't amount to d-ck once the playoffs rolled around.
McHale with a solid play for a layup coming out of a TO. His success after TOs is great. I don't know why ppl say it isn't.
Does it though? Man, I am not so sure, he is elite on D, but you have to score to win.... I dunno, give me a decent defender and a good offensive player over him. DD
A lot of it is Morey. He doesn't believe in set plays. Part of the reason he is so invested in talent acquisition.
