If you are in still in Colorado, then it is understandable. It's called supply and demand. I imagine demand is pretty high there with all those people with the munchies.

I think they're 80 cents here. And probably better quality. This is why, if I don't see a price on something, I don't buy it...
There's places in Portland that sells donuts for $3-4 And wait for it.... They have lines out the door! I don't think of a donut as being a pretentious food so the price was a turn off at first but I don't eat donuts all the time and when I do I enjoy quality and I could clearly taste difference. I'm speaking of Blue Star donuts. Check it out if any of you come to Portland. Much better than world famous but overrated Voo Doo donuts.
