Eh, I don't really think Jeff Green is a game changer.

the suns are still acquiring talent in order to make the playoffs.

this means they are less likely to part with talent (dragic) for expirings and picks.

i know this is off topic, but my bet is we have a better chance at ty lawson than dragic. the nuggets are selling talent to plan for the future while the suns are trying to win this year.

Interesting from the Boston point of view. Memphis' 2015 first round pick just got traded to Denver in the Mozgov deal via Cleveland. That means this is likely a 2017 first rounder. Ainge might have been able to turn all those future picks into the Big 3 last time around, but I think that was very opportunistic. Not sure he will be able to package all of these middling picks into something significant.

Long story short: "Boston is gonna be bad for a while, y'all"

He is a lot better than Prince. Prince has the veteran leadership and experience but this is definitely an upgrade for Memphis.

Green is like Gay-lite. Memphis Gay.

That's probably what they expect him to be, anyway. Someone to take shots to bail them out in the end of games. Green is willing to take the, but he isn't known to make them as much as you want someone taking those shots should.

Risk but worth it. Thank goodness they did not get Deng, that would have made them real favorites. This move makes them better but still in the cluster that is the West.

He's better than Prince, but I still don't think he's the final piece that puts them over the hump. Green isn't that good. He's a glorified chucker IMO - a poor man's Rudy Gay. He's not that efficient. He has his clutch moments but if I'm the Grizzlies, the ball is still going to be in Conley's hands at the end of the game.

I expect Morey to call Ainge every day come draft time offering the 12th pick for the 16th and 21st pick. Then the day after for the 16th and 29th pick. Wash, rinse, repeat. Morey knows Boston is gonna get desperate come draft time. Each year more than the last. They don't want to integrate all of these rookies at the same time and end up like the 76ers with the worst record for the next several seasons.

Not enough mins to develop all that youth. Some teams are going trade for talent on the cheap from the Celtics.

This is why I said in the other thread I didn't care if the Grizzlies traded for Jeff Green. He makes them more talented but his positive impact may be minimal.

If Green keeps his FGAs down and is selective with his shots, Grizzlies have improved themselves. But they don't need Rudy Gay the 2nd.
