    CrashTheBoards......

First, it is clear that you do not understand US law, and if you do live in the USA, it hasn't been long.

It is simple: "hate speech" is NOT what that cartoon is under US law. In order for it to be "hate speech', it must call for imminent lawlessness.

Do you know what IS illegal in the USA?:

Killing someone because you didn't like a cartoon they made.

Your whole premise/thought process is not a value held in the West. You can hate that a cartoonist draws religious figures, you can protest, you can even sue..... but you cannot physically attack or kill someone for it.

This reminds me of the Muslim in Detroit that beat up a man that dressed like Mohammad for Halloween. He was shocked when he was arrested and charged with assault.

I know you're trying to be sarcastic.

But yes, using the legal and political system is actually the civilized way to do it.

It's called "society." Some should try joining it.

You honestly have no idea how much suffering Muslims go through. Someone in my neighborhood was shot twice 2 years ago in his own backyard by a deranged man. The psycho then head shot the man's mother in the kitchen as she looked on. Maybe it wasn't a hate crime, but I won't rule out that possibility.

There are crazies in every group and they will always be crazy. It's up to he rest of us not to spread hateful ideas that may cause them to act out.

I know it did not happen in the USA.

CrashTheBoards said that Hate Speech was illegal in the USA..... and he really did not understand the definition in the USA and what is and isnt protected.

Concerning banning the Burka... I didn't agree with it when they passed it.

Your mindset is what leads to the erosion of freedoms.

Are you willing to get rid of all speech that a crazy person doesn't like? Where would you draw the line? If they were willing to kill people over fart jokes because that offended them would you say we need to stop those? What about sex jokes? What about jokes about getting old?

What you are doing, still, is rationalizing what these people did. We don't need to get people to stop telling bad jokes or drawing bad cartoons, we need to stop people who are willing to kill over them.

They are the bad guys in the story. Not yes, but...just them. They are the only villains here.

Other religions have all faced suffering from other people. You mentioned that "we" only see things in black and white but it actually you. What you're suggesting is that no one depict Muslim religious figures in demeaning matters so therefor that means that NO religious figure should be as well.

That is very black or white on your part.

Yeah the poster started saying false things about US law because he thought it would bolster his argument.

No, but these cartoons are extremely offensive. Muslims say their prophet cannot be drawn or portrayed in any way, unlike Christians. Are these cartoons REALLY that funny that they have to draw them? All they do is upset/anger certain groups of people.

I am with Obama, they are tasteless and should not be okay.

Wait, did you seriously cite an example to bolster your case, then turn around and say, "Well, I'm not actually sure if it was a hate crime, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN!!"???

Are you under the age of 17, because if not, you really need to work on your debating skills, and your ability to make a point.

And Christianity has a commandment against killing. What's your point?
