The deal just doesn't make much sense for the Rockets. They'd create a hole at the 4 and would get a PG that doesn't fit all that well next to Harden. Reggie Jackson is arguably the better player but he's not a great fit for the Rockets and especially at the expense of their second best scoring option according to Morey. And on top of that they would have to pay him this off-season.

WUT. If we're trading DMO for a starting PG we're going for Dragic.

I wonder how OKC fans would react to having Bevs on their team?

Noah isn't a HOF candidate, and while TD/Gasol are HOF candidates they aren't in their prime anymore in fact they're a shell of their former selves so it's not that crazy to compare D-Mo to those guys.

You have to remember there's a big difference between DMO and guys like Davis or Cousins or Drummond, those guys get all the PT they can handle and are the focus of plays. With DMo though he's treated as any bench player who must earn his minutes, and when he does get PT his touches are limited because most of the shots go to HnH so he is undervalued, if he played on a crappy team that gave him all the attention like what Detroit, Sac and Utah etc. are doing i'm confident he would probably averaging close to 18-9 while playing solid defense.

It is really hard to find a guy who is 7-ft tall and has all the offensive and defensive skills DMo has, I'm confident he will be at the very least a star (and worthy of the max) as he continues to grow and improve, hell we already saw shades of it when Dwight got hurt and he was suddenly option B on offense.

Let me make sure that I understand your logic. You call him "no shooting" Beverley despite the fact that he shoots 38.8% from behind the arc.

And your solution is to replace him with a guy that shoots 27.3% from behind the arc?

Yeah, that idea is as sound as it comes. We can downgrade our shooting and our defense in the same move...brilliant.

Yes, the only difference between Cousins, Drummond, Anthony freakin Davis and Montejunas is that they get playing time and he doesn't.

You guys do realize that both McFail and Morey had no problems instantly benching him in place of a guy who was paid to stay away from a 5-23 team? Smh. More PT --> more shots --> more scouting --> regression to the mean.

Reggie Jackson might be a top 15 starting PG in the league, and his skillsets don't mesh with Harden's whatsoever. That is maybe a reason to reject this trade (but we all know Morey doesn't give a damn about chemistry). However, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to reject this offer based on DMo's supposedly amazing value.

    Good lord, yall are crazy

I think you misinterpreted what he was trying to say.... which was those guys are clearly better players, and as a result get a lot more PT and focus offensively, etc.

I agree generally that the opinion of DMo in this thread is overrated.

However, I also agree with those that think he is a meaningfully solid + defender for a big... which are hard to come by. You don't have to block a ton of shots to be a great defender. I just wish he could up his rebounding game. And shoot less 3's, or none. Not that he takes a ton, but he's 3 for his last 16.

Otherwise I do actually think offensively with more touches in the post, he'd be just as efficient and could put up more ppg... we just don't necessarily need that.

I would note trade him for Reggie Jackson, but that's a function of Jackson's skill level as much as anything else.

Ideally I wouldn't trade him at all, or TJones, because I think when healthy they bring different things to the table that will make for a very interesting 4 big rotation with Smith for the playoffs. But I understand the desire to get better.

Earlier in the year I probably would have traded him for Dragic. Everyday I am less likely to do that, though... .Dragic is a FA, at a crowded position. I think the longer the Suns wait to trade him, the less leverage they have. The suitors are teams outside of the playoffs with draft picks to trade, but whom are unlikely to trade those picks because Dragic is a FA... or the Rockets. The Suns have really screwed up that position. They are I think 8-2 or 10-2 over the last stretch, and Dragic has picked up his game, but he's not played as good as last year. I still think the Thunder creep into that final playoff spot (or higher) and the Pelicans AND Suns are on the outside looking in. If that happens before the trade deadline, I'm offering up the Pelicans pick plus young ones not currently playing - Nick Johnson, Capela, KPap - and that's it.

No. You get two to three Reggie Jacksons every drafting class. The size and skills DMO brings, that's rare. Hell no.

I think DMO is due for 10-12 mil per in his next contract.

    It's not just the production.
I like Reggie Jackson too. But looks like he is falling out in OKC for being too selfish.
The back-to-the-basket game DMO possesses already with his agility at his size puts DMO in a very rare company. He is 7'1 and can run up and down the court. Condition wise, he looks like he can play 35 minutes without being tired. He is a little shorter than Yao, but everything else ... I am just saying. At the beginning of the season, we all thought he was still lost, but as of late he has been picking up big strides. You put DMO on the market, 29 other teams would want him. He is worth much more than Reggie Jackson.

Because Reggie Jackson is a free agent this off-season, has a completely inflated sense of who he is as a player and what he's worth, and doesn't bring anything to the table as far as what the Rockets are looking for at the PG position. Motiejunas, OTOH, has developed nicely, is a legitimate low-post presence, is 7'-0", gives rim protection on the weak side, and is still VERY cheap for another year. Stop acting like you're the smartest one in the room all the time, what. You're not.

youre doing it wrong... heres how you do it

more PT--> more experience -->more confidence --> more effective skills --> even more confidence --> greater skills and production -->advancing to elite level...

their benching D-Mo perhaps means not wanting to pay him max( or fear of losing him) when hes allowed to shine...or it even could mean they are tanking to avoid OKC.... i bet they dont want to meet OKC or Spurs in 1st round so they are finding every possible way not to take 1- 3 seed

Reggie is a nice player with good upside who is about to get overpaid.

What- DMo is not a stretch 4. His biggest weakness is that he sometimes thinks he is.. not his defense at all.

He is awesome in the post. Like a taller more athletic Luis Scola without the 15 footer and added defense.

When D-Mo first started playing for us, he looked lost. He looked awkward on the court. I was just starting to think that he would never figure it out.

This season, he has been a very pleasant surprise. He has improved a ton- on both ends of the floor.

But yes, I do think it is crazy to compare him to "those guys". Absolutely crazy.

I don't know if Noah is a HOF candidate or not. Neither is D-Mo. Noah is a better defender, a better shot blocker, a better rebounder and a better passer. He doesn't have nearly the post moves or as reliable go to move as D-Mo's hook shot.

Duncan is at the end of his career. An all-time-great career. If I had to choose a player for the next several years, D-Mo would be the obvious choice. But if I had to pick between one of the two to win a championship for this season, I would still take Duncan. All day, everyday. Tons of playoff and championship experience. Still has his reliable jumpshot. Still a good defender. Doesn't commit as many stupid fouls as D-Mo (although this has improved). Duncan obviously isn't as good as he used to be, and his athleticism has almost completely disappeared, but he is still a very good player and a very good defender.

Marc Gasol... a shell of who he used to be? Not in his prime anymore? Are we talking about the same guy? The guy who is one of the best defenders in the league? The guy who has been one of the top 3 or 4 MVP candidates so far this season (along with Harden, Curry and Davis)? That Marc Gasol?

D-Mo is showing a lot of promise. He has shown that he can be a productive, reliable player both on offense and on defense. I hope that he still improves. But he is not as good as those players.

This thread makes you wonder what other teams fans think of DMo.

What doesn't seem to think very highly of him it seems.

Perhaps what sees why he ruffled so many feathers with his asinine proposal after watching tonight's game? Nah, probably not.

Is english not your first language? The sentence you quoted clearly says theres a big difference but then you talk about me saying the only difference between Davis and Cousins and DMo is PT.

As for DMo's value why the **** would he just be worth Reggie Jackson, a run of the mill shoot first pg who is looking to get paid next season? DMo is a 7ft solid defensive and post scoring player who can pass the ball and is on a rookie scale contract, how rare are big men like that in the NBA vs shoot first no d pgs? In terms of value these two are virtually opposite on the totem pole, the NBA has dozens of players like Jackson but bigs are a commodity Mozghov for example is worth 2 picks by himself yet jackson had to become a throwin in a deal for Shumpert and penalty of paying JR Smith.
