Wow, you lost so much credibility with this thread. You could probably get two Reggie Jacksons (or even more) for one DMo.
what are you talking about? DMo is a fantastic defender (I believe he was ranked like #8 in FG% allowed at the rim or so) also, he has improved by leaps and bounds since last year and has had a major impact when on the floor this year...
what, dude, your posts are killing us. There are literally no similarities between Donatas and Bargnani, aside form their size and color. The fact that you find them comparable shows how little you watch the Rockets, if at all. More of a stat watcher am I right?
This is such a bad assessment of D-mo it's pathetic. I've seen some poorly informed posts, but this just may take the cake. You either have very poor basketball knowledge, or you never actually watch the Rockets play. I used to have you on ignore and I took you off (not sure why) probably best to put you back on after a post this bad.
Dude, I am not trying to vex rocket fan here. I am only bringing up perceptions around the league of dmo. Maybe the perceptions are false, but they are real. http://hoopshabit.com/2014/08/09/last-chance-saloon-donatas-motiejunas/
Of course, the incomparable Greg Chin, that bastion of basketball knowledge. Best just to let this thread die dude, because you are making yourself look even worse than usual. Just admit that you don't actually watch the Rockets play.
His comparison is about D-Mo not playing defense at that time and struggling to find a role in the NBA, after high hopes when coming into the league. He's not comparing their game at any point.
Bargnani has been trash for most of his career man, what are you talking about? He's a solid big coming off the bench AT BEST and any team that played him major minutes paid the price for it. Man with this post...I don't even know... You comparing Dmo to busts like Fredette and Bargnani, get out of here.
Even still, let's not pretend that d-mo is a defensive stalwart. And while d-mo helps dwight in certain areas, especially with spreading the court and giving dwight room to operate down low; in the playoffs, a smart team will certainly exploit the fact that neither player is a reliable ft shooter. If dmo can raise his ft% dramatically it would certainly help make the pairing better. I mean, to be honest, Terrence Jones, while a more traditional pf, and doesn't create the same space as Josh Smith and D-mo do for Dwight, is probably a better fit simply because he doesn't hurt the rockets foul game as much and also is able to guard bigger pfs.
Lamarcus Aldridge games one and two of last year's playoffs. Watch them. T.jones is a good help defender...not so much a good low post defender, definitely not better than Dmo has been this season.
I'm saying that, the perception around the league, is that his defense isn't very good. As far as the Fredette comparison it is this: fredette is a deadly shooter that spent years unable to crack a lineup because he was took weak defensively to get on the court, meaning that while shooting is an important skill, you HAVE TO PLAY AT LEAST AVERAGE defense. And judging by the fact that it has taken dmo 4 years to get significant minutes, he (like fredette) has had a similar struggle. I also would like to point out that for 3 years dmo was at least considered a bust himself and was in the same boat as fredette.
D-Mo is in his 3rd year. And before you go on about the perception with people who don't watch the Rockets, which I'm guessing is you, we don't care. We actually watch the games and D-mo is a very good defensive player, and a very poor shooter. His most valuable weapon on offense is his post game, not his ability to stretch the floor.
I thought dmo was drafted in 2011????? What happened? He is 24? Kryie is 22 and 4 years in the league now.
We really shouldn't have to explain this. Just admit you don't actually follow Rockets basketball, and therefore have very little useful knowledge in their regard.
I actually thought the deal I proposed (which I have no dog in the fight) was a fair one. I didn't realize that rocket fan held dmo in such esteem. Hell, next time I propose a rocket trade I'll be sure not to even consider posting it unless it is for a superstar like kd or Anthony Davis or something like that.
