Does anyone else think Dwight Howard is coasting?

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by Swishh, Jan 1, 2015.

?

Do you think Dwight Howard may be coasting through the regular season?

  1. Yes.He's been battling injuries the past few seasons, so he's coasting to be fresh for the playoffs.

  2. No, I think this is just how Dwight's going to be from now on. His age / mileage is getting to him.

i'm starting to think knees are kind of important to someone who has always depended on athletic ability than post skills.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not quite yet to the point of extreme concern as far as Dwight's role on this team, but where there is smoke there is fire. It is my belief that there might be stuff going on behind the scenes that they are keeping under wraps between Dwight and some other players and/or coaches.

*This is a bit of an extreme thought*

Dwight might actually be exactly what LA labeled him as; Someone who refuses to play PnR, and thinks the offense should ONLY run through him in the post. The jury is still out considering he says he's playing through an injury, but I agree with most everyone on this board in that he should focus more on Defense, Rebounding , & PnR offense (things that he is GOOD at).

I'm going to ask this again since last time I asked no one answered. Did anyone else hear about an altercation between Dwight and James during halftime of the Washington game last week?

(Maybe the reason it wasn't answered was because no one heard of it or it didn't happen, just interested to see if anyone else heard anything of the sort.)

I've wondered this myself at times, but I think the reason Dwight looks like he is coasting is because he makes what he is doing look incredibly easy. For example, Arian Foster looks like he is giving 50% on the football field but that is just a product of his running style. Also, giving 110% right now is not essential to going deep in the playoffs. For the Western conference, seeding is basically irrelevant because the talent disparity between the top 8 teams is extremely miniscule. As long as Dwight does what he did versus portland last year, anything he does now is forgiven.

Rudy, I get what your saying but Dwight doesn't make anything look easy. He makes the easy stuff look incredible (part of why I liked him when in Orlando). He is so dependent on his athleticism that he can't fall back on his moves like Hakeem did at his peak when he was 32. There are are better and faster runners than Arian but that guy waits for the perfect moment to hit the whole and he really makes it look effortless.

I saw a tweet the night of the game. Don't particularly know the credibility of the source that's why I've been asking around. The tweet has since been taken down.

^^Said it happened during halftime in the tunnels near the locker room...

Again, I have no idea to the validity of the statement, was just trying to find out.

You don't get ten offensive rebounds in a game by coasting

He picked up in the 2nd half but with like 4 mins left in 2nd qtr he only had 2 rebounds. I would rather have the 15 pt-15 rebound version of dwight than the 18-12 version we have now. I'd rather him more consistently dominate the glass. He is missing too many easy shots

21 rebounds between the rockets starting center and PF. 19 boards for the center and 2 boards for their PF.

Yes, Beverley was saying something about people whining about touches the other day, and then Pau says this, sort of connects the dots.

If Dwight can play anything like the playoff Dwight again this team is going to go far assuming Harden doesn't have a clunker. Smith could maybe become a #3 option with his playmaking and his play lately inside the paint.

I don't think this is that big a deal. During the Cavs game when Howard hit the floor, Harden was one of the first to run to him and help him up. Even if it did happen, it was probably a heat of the moment thing.

It was pretty obvious he was coasting, since when he put his mind to it, he was unstoppable on the boards and got involved in some real pick and rolls, not those half assed ones and he got two dunks off of them! Dwight, get your head in the game, stop ****ing around and let your ego go. Dwight might be the X-factor, how scary is that??

I sure hope so. McHale needs to straighten things out immediately, if there is a problem.
