Who the hell is antman? Never heard of this scrub. He's going to morph into a little ant. That sounds exciting

Can't Ant-Man make himself as tall as a skyscraper, too? I hope they don't just focus on the fact that he can be tiny, in the movie. Rudd in suit: Spoiler
Excited for the movie (or any superhero movie), but I can't think of a scenario where you beat an enemy by being small.
Like the cast but this just seems dumb, some comics just don't translate to the screen and the shot of him riding a wasp really gave me that impression.....
Hank Pym discovers "Pym" particles. Initially these only allow him to shrink in size, but he later discovers he can use them to greatly increase his size as well. He then takes on the moniker Giant Man for awhile. I doubt they will show him as Giant Man because of how awkward it is having giant humans on screen. If anything I could see it as a teaser at the end, showing they've discovered more about the particles or what not. Anyway, trailer is about what I expected. It got a smirk out of me at points, but I could also see how this could be the first Marvel bomb. Hopefully not.
For God's sake give them the X-Men and Spiderman rights or we'll keep getting Ant Man movies. Soon it'll be Howard the Duck again.
it's a trailer people...relax. I admit it seems like a difficult character to pull off but the same could have been said for Thor. With the right tone, this could be a fun flick.
I think it all relates directly to the how likeable and popular the characters really are. The few people that read Guardians all turn into cult fans. I've never seen anyone say, "damn, that Ant Man really goes hard" or "mommy, mommy I wanna dress up as Ant Man". That's the difference between this movie and all of Marvel's others so far... I don't think anyone liked Ant Man much to begin with.
Thor will be Marvel's first bomb....Guardians of the Galaxy will be Marvel's first bomb. Ant-Man will be fine, I can't wait to see the depth of field changes when he shrinks. I doubt this movie will be about him saving the world, it'll be more about him doing a heist. I can't wait till he's in the Avengers and Hawkeye shoots him on a tip of an arrow.
That isn't the same thing. Guardians looked amazing based off the information coming out, the trailer, the stills -- everything screamed major hit. I even thought Thor looked solid based off everything. (and I never liked the character prior to the movies really) Ant Man is quite the opposite. I think most people around here would consider me a "Marvel fan boy", and even I'm skeptical. Will I go see it? Absolutely. I love Rudd, Lilly, and to a lesser extent Douglas. (not to mention Pena and T.I.) Will it be great? I'm having trouble seeing it that way. Will it be good? I could definitely see that. Will it be not so great? Could see it as well. I never liked Ant Man much personally. With that said the gif you linked was AWESOME on Avengers: EMH. They really shouldn't have changed formats, that show was so sick.
That's a good point about the objective in the film. I don't think they will have him battle overlords to save the world, but rather have more or a "realistic" objective. As for seclusion's point that Galaxy and Thor looked "amazing" based on the earliest teasers...I'd disagree. I remember those films having a lot of reservations on whether or not they could be pulled off well. For Ziggy's point about popularity, it is very true that Ant-man isn't a popular character, however he is a long standing character that almost all comic book fans are at least familiar with.
You should re-read my post, I didn't say anything about Thor looking amazing from the trailers -- because it didn't. As for Guardians, the initial trailer didn't look so hot because all it did was explain who the characters were (because 90% of the populous had no clue). Everything else looked great, and there's a reason I mentioned several aspects (details, stills, information) because I wasn't just talking about the trailer.
From what I saw from the trailer it feels like a japanese movie that just had the japanese actors replaced with american ones. Was never too hyped about Ant-Man personally maybe I'll get more interested with a full blown trailer since this one was a teaser. The movie was in development hell for so long I just don't see it doing that well. Hope they didn't put too much money into it(and it doesn't look like they did )
Hank Pym is also Giant-Man in the Marvel Comics, so yes. I can see Marvel spinning Ant-Man discovering how to grow in a future Avengers movie just in time to save the day as an 'oh-****!' moment.
