I'll let the legal system figure out what's best for Winston. Out of all the QBs eligible for the draft, he's the one that has the best chance of having success at the next level. Mariota will be a joke, imo...but Winston can actually make some big league throws.
I agree with that, but I don't really like this QB class any better than the one before it or the one before that. I'm not sure there is anyone that will really have success in the NFL. I just remember how last off-season was dominated by talk about a QB that the Texans were never going to draft and I would hope to avoid that nonsense happening this off-season. There's definitely more likely prospects to talk about.
Yeah, Im usually all for the Texans drafting a QB early, but Im okay with them taking a pass this season and seeing what they have in Mallett/Savage.
I'm a little less optimisic about Savage after seeing him briefly in action, but hopefully he'll bring his game to another level before next season. Either way, I'm never for drafting a QB just to draft a QB, that's something the Browns do.
i like jones.. but, i need to see more. he's most definitely returning to OSU where he will start next season.
I don't think he will... Especially if he plays like he's been playing in the championship. This draft class isn't full of talent like last year's. He could go in the 1st round as easily as Flacco did.
LOL are we seriously talking about Cardale Jones in here? The Freshman QB with a grand total of 2 starts in his college career? Even for Remii that's stupid.
QB class of 2016 doesn't look all that promising either. Winston (I guess) and Connor Cook. Christian Hackenberg, who has all the measureables but sucked this year. After that ????????
i mean... if ej manuel was a 1st rounder, anything is possible.... but, it's highly unlikely the nfl advisory board will grade him out as such. small body of work, no film... trust me, he's going back to school.
There's often QB's that "come out of nowhere" so there's a chance that could happen but I agree that it's not looking promising on the franchise QB front.
Yes, it is. A guy who started off the year as 3rd string, only got to play because of injury, and has only started 2(3) games isn't going to suddenly jump to the top of draft boards. Even if you like what you see, there simply isn't enough tape on the guy to accurately project what he'd be able to do as a pro. Too little info = too much risk.
ok So 2012 sucked 2013 sucked 2014 sucked 2015 sucks 2016 is gonna suck So . . . . . what you all are saying is .. . . NEVER Draft a QB until you 100% sure Which is basically never draft a QB . . unless you get the #1 pick Rocket River
I don't know how you got that out of what was said. 2012 was awesome, everything since then has been garbage. You shouldn't draft garbage.
This time last year the arguments on here were Johnny vs. Teddy vs. Clowney if I remember right. Out of those 3 one looks like he would rather party than be a qb, one looks like he might be a decent to good qb in this league and the last one is probably not giving their team any meaningful contribution until 2016. So before you guys get all up in each others asses over players (which I guess if that's what you wanna do more power to you) just remember last years offseason and how noone arguing for either guy came out looking good in the end...although I guess at this point I would have rather invested a 2nd round pick in Teddy last year over Sua-Filo given their rookie years.
Right now there is mumbling that if he declares he could possibly be drafted in the 4th round... If he has a big game in the championship the mumbling is he could go in the 3rd or 2nd round and that may be good enough for him to leave. And this is kind of a crap draft. Todd Gurley with his busted knee may actually be the best player so I could definitely see Jones going in the 1st 2 rounds. But you may be right. He may stay in school and try to fight for playing time with the other two quarterbacks.
Or a better way of looking at it would be that of the 3 talked about for the first overall pick, one had bad luck with injuries his rookie year and the other two were mid to late first round picks. One being deserving of being a mid to late round pick, the other not being deserving of a pick at all.
^^^ i'm just saying some of you guys get too invested in random players that it makes discussing players insufferable here because ya'll are so caught up into a player/your opinion that it ruins threads. It happened last offseason and I would hope it to be avoided this year.
I can understand that. This season it shouldn't be as bad because of where the Texans are drafting. Falling in love with any one player would be foolish given that no one knows who will be on the board by the time the Texans pick. Hopefully that'll lead to a more productive conversation this time around. There is no obvious pick like there was last year and there is no cult of Teddy to deal with like there was last year.
Idk about you guys, but I hope we take a good, hard look at Dorial Green-Beckham. I feel as though BO'B will have more influence on who we take this year and I just have this feeling that he won't take as much stock in off the field 'issues' as Smith and McNair. I also think BO'B is angling for Hackenburg next year and we don't draft a QB early this year.
