While playing very physical defense against a guy who gets to the stripe 9+ times a game. Then top it off with drawing a couple offensive fouls against Harden ... that last flop being a killer.
Missed the game, but if one team shoots more fts by a factor of 6 than the other team, your money had better be on the former. Just too much ft discrepancy to overcome.
nba should investigate this game. the numbers just don't make any sense even with some home cooking. howard was fouled all night, held, smacked, bumped, they did it all. james was constantly bumped on the drive which should be a foul especially in the recent nba where there is no hand checking and shooters are protected.
Yeah we would be undefeated this year if it wasnt for the refs and the league conspiring against us!! :/
****ty strawman attempt, don't be stupid and ruin the thread. nobody is complaining about the entire season just last night.
Every time I think the officiating has gotten clean in the NBA, a game like this happens. It sucks all the fun, competitiveness, and integrity out of the game. Makes me not even want to watch. It's not just the Rockets, it's around the league. There have been times when the Rockets are on the right side of the rigging, too. Ever since those early 2000's Kings/Lakers series, The Jeff Van Gundy $250k fine, and Stern shrugging off Tonaghy like he was a "rogue" official, it's clear the NBA front office runs a rigged game. The only thing that can fix it is if someone like George Mitchell runs an independent investigation. Even Bud Selig, as dumb as he is, actually wanted to clean up the game, so he commissioned the Mitchell Report. Silver won't do that because, like Stern, he's on board with the officiating.
i have never thought it was a league mandate or issue. it's an individual/group ref issue. those guys don't get paid much (compared to players) and it just seems so tempting for them to work something on the side. i think all sports will always have those kinds of issues. i think they can be paid better, along with evaluations to improve their craft but also psychological evaluations. some refs (joey crawford) don't appear to have the temperament to be a referee.
Joey Crawford is the real life Cotton Hill from "King of the Hill" animated series. Of course he shouldn't be a ref....
To the people who point out the bad out-of-bounds miss on Corey Brewer, etc... I think you're just furthering the case that the referees suck, not defending them. I don't think they're out to get the Rockets. I think they're just poorly trained, too easily swayed, and useless.
No fan of a team led by James Harden should ever complain about refereeing. Our offense is 50% predicated on the NBA's practice of calling travels super loosely while calling contact on drives super tight.
New, unannounced point of emphasis in 2015 that Harden is a victim of and needs to adjust? Or just fluke?
If there is a foul it should be called. If you're gonna keep it loose in a game call it that way for both teams. That's all I'm saying
Cmon now. Aren't you just complaining about the refereeing under the pretense that the rest of us are just homers? The fact that Harden is the beneficiary of so many touch calls doesn't absolve the refs of responsibility for what happened last night. Sounds like we agree that the NBA isn't officiated well.
It's called a Eurostep. Show me footage of Harden actually travelling. He takes 2 big wave length steps and goes for a quick lay-up/dunk or gets fouled on the 3rd.
