Because Biggio wasn't a big guy. Plus there are some voters who don't appreciate how good Bagwell truly was.

Because Jeter is a God. In the same class as Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig.

Which I always thought was funny because Jeter had more ties to PED's than anyone but Jose Canseco.

Clemens and Pettite and ARoid only used PEDs when they were non-Yankees. Clearly.

Jeter has had the greatest PR of any modern-day athlete. It's amazing.

Bryan Trostel, aka The Batguy, is a contributor for Astros County.

Can you guess who Player A is?

I couldn't think of it, but once I looked at the list of 3K names, it was a no brainer. Of course, Ripken was an elite defenisve SS in his prime.

Hal Bodley and Marty Noble need to hurry up and die, abdicating their votes in the process. Geez I can smell the stench of Alzheimer's just by reading their words. The worst excuse you could ever make would be, "I talked to the current HOF'ers and they said that this guy shouldn't be in the Hall." Obviously the current HOF'ers don't want anyone else in the Hall. They are selfish and stodgy and don't want their acclaim to be diluted by the inclusion of more players. They are the most biased people you could ask on this stuff.

I'm not sure how the voting/numbers work.
Does the above imply that people have left Randy Johnson off their HOF ballot?

Yes. It's a compilation of publicly announced votes via social media or articles.

baseballs hall of fame is so frustrating. Sad how uninformed and biased some of the voters are. Tragedy that they're the gatekeepers to Americas past time enshrinement.

What was it at this point last year? I thought I remembered Biggio being higher.

They are going to have to elect 4 for him to get in.

Bags just seems introverted for the most part (at least from an outsider's perspective). What I know is there are an amazing number of teammates who talk about how great of a teammate and player he was, and that he is very respectful of his teammates.

At least 2 people did. One of which said he felt bad doing so, but wanted to give support to players who desperately needed it.

There was one guy on record saying Smoltz & Unit are clear 1st ballot guys, but Pedro isn't. I always thought there would be people like that, given Pedro's relatively low win total, but he was the most dominating RH starter I've ever seen (including Clemens, though Clemens had the better career). And to put Smoltz above him is just plain silly and displays how out of touch with the game that some voters are.

79.4% last year with 36.7% of vote collected. I'd guess Biggio's chances today are extremely good, while Piazza has no chance. He might get 70%, which could propel him in 2016 (Piazza getting in can only boost Bagwell's chances, unless Piazza came up in a PED scandal).

Why are we assuming that percentage will decrease as more votes come in?

Its possible because those that aren't announcing their votes/ballots are the ones that are the most controversial/subjective/questionable, and they're simply hoping that nothing "r****ded" happens (like Biggio missing it by 1 or 2 votes again) while they go along with their agenda.

These are the people who don't submit a full ballot... these are the people who vote for the players they "liked", even though they know they aren't ultimately hall worthy... these are the people who think just because they happened to keep a writing job for 10 years, they're entitled to be judge/jury of a game they think they know more about than they actually do.

Because they generally do. This is the 5th or so year they have tracked the publicly released votes and they have always gone down. My guess is that many of the voters who don't want to publicly go on record vote for very few or no players. Historically, if you want to call 5 years historically, vote totals for fringe guys drop (sometimes significantly) once the full totals are in.
