Legitimately thought Cormier was going to wear Jones out after the 2nd round.

Huge props to Bones, he just out wrestled an Olympian.

One of the best fights I've ever seen. These guys are at the top of their games and were very evenly matched.

I know the lack of a finish is disappointing for some folks but this fight was the real deal. Cormier was not a product of hype. He was as legit as they come.

This win to me makes JBJ the GOAT for mma. Greater than Fedor, Anderson Silva, GSP, etc.

Oh without a doubt Cormier was gassed. It was not the poke, he just didn't look the same after. I would have thought Cormier be better equipped to go 5, that in itself was disappointing.

I was surprised that Cormier found his way inside as much as he did the first three rounds. Jones length is incredibly hard to deal with and Cormier handled it pretty well for a while.

I'm hoping AG beats Rumble Johnson, because I want to see AG/Jones 2

Gus and AJ are two very tough potential opponents for Jones. I guess it doesn't get any easier.

I don't think Cormier was really that gassed. He seemed like he ran out of things he could do. He should have let his hands go more.

He will kill Gus in a rematch and will outclass AJ.

Cormier found himself in a real fight tonight and choked like he always has.

Like he always has? This was Cormier's first loss in MMA.

Gus has great boxing and reach to match Jones. He was also able to take Jones down multiple times, something even Cormier couldn't.

AJ is huge and has ridiculous punching power. He also made Phil Davis look like a little boy and stuffed all of his takedowns.

What made it worse was when jones said after the fight, "I'm sure he's probably crying right now."

That was pretty classless of him.

JJ didn't look that great last night - if DC didn't gas he would have had a real shot at winning. JJ looked really tired himself in the last two rounds - after all the big fights he's had he may be starting to wear down.

I think Jones will dominate Gus in a rematch. The first time around, Gus got an unfocused, not prepared Jones and still lost (and it started getting one-sided once Jones figured Gus out toward the end). He won't catch the version of Bones again. He will catch hell and get destroyed. It won't be competitive.

Give DC some credit. The guy has some serious cardio and is a hell of a fighter. No one is going to look good against him. You need to give Jones credit too. He is the first fighter to ever wear DC down and that feat in itself is amazing. "If DC didn't gas"? That was part of the strategy of the Jones camp.

I'm not sure how someone can watch the two best light heavies in the world go to war for five rounds and be confused about what happened when both guys are exhausted.

I think Cormier might have a legitimate issue with depression. His constant "you have no idea how many times I've had to rebuild myself" and similar statements seem telling. Almost every guy in the UFC was dominant but not the best in the world at their former craft whether it be boxing, wrestling or whatever so I'm not sure why DC paints his history as such a sob story that only he could come back from. Every fighter could talk about failure at the highest level. It's really strange and you could almost see him coming unglued as the fight got closer.

When he started crying in the post-fight press conference it was confirmed in my mind that this took more out of him that it should have.

You think DC wouldn't have talked a lot of smack and ish about Jones if DC won the fight? C'mon mayne.

I got no problem with what Jones said and I like both Jones and DC. Whichever dude won the fight was probably gonna be classless in victory. That's how it goes sometimes.

You can believe that if you want but I'm not sure in what world Jones would be unfocused to fight a guy that everyone knows mirrors him in terms of size, reach, youth, ability etc.
Bones is one of the smartest fighters alive (and I'm not sure he gets enough credit for that) but to say he will dominate Gus in a rematch is getting a little ahead of oneself.
Let's just have Bones go out and win three rounds clearly vs Gus without it being close, that'd be a start.

Look at 3:12 on the disdain was mutual they both have been throwing venom at each other. If they had made up, then it sort of taints all future rivalries as fake. This one was genuine dislike they said some horrible stuff towards each other.
