The real Josh Smith has been missing since his prime Atlanta days. Time and practices won't change the fact he is a low IQ player who puts up bad shots.
No he's not, but he seems to give greater effort. By no means am I saying DMo is better than Dwight or is the answer to the Rockets problems, but you cannot deny Howard has been a disappointment. What is it? Is DH hurt? Is he cruising until the playoffs? Is he upset about something? Or is this just a rough stretch for him? Whatever it is I'm not too hapy about it. We need more out of Dwight consistently. Edit: these were my thoughts on Howard, not Smith. I still don't think Smith should be starting yet. Too early to complain about results though.
This is the real Josh Smith. People thinking he's playing like its 2010 in Atlanta are the ones who are crazy.
exactly....he was released from a 20 mil contract....he has been known as a low IQ chucker for a WHILE
D-Mo being a better defender than Dwight is irrelevant. D-Mo is certainly a better defender than smith. D-Mo is like a PF version of Shane Battier. His positional and team defense is outstanding and he is in the right spot almost 100% of the time. He makes very few mistakes and hustles hard.
Im not gonna pretend i know who the "real Josh Smith" is but i HIGHLY doubt he is good enough for us to basically give up on 2 games in order to try and help him get acclimated to the starters faster. HE can do that playing off the bench, its not like he wont get minutes with harden or any of the other starters. IT will still happen, starting him was a huge mistake at this point.
I did as much complaining about the Smith signing as anyone, and so far pretty much all of the things I worried about are happening. That said, we need to give it more time before really freaking out, there's still a chance that they figure out what they are doing wrong and improve on it. If they don't, well, it cost us a year of contention but at least it's just a one year deal.
On one particular possession before the half-way mark of the 3rd quarter, Smith set two half-assed screens so the ball would come to him. Got locked up by his man when facing up, tried dribbling through the double team, and turned it over. If he can avoid this, he is a good addition to the team, but with plays like that - after 10 years in the association - you've got to know to pass the ball.
From what I've seen on the rockets he seems to be out of place at times. But it's a new team so he's still learning, either way I'm in favor of this seasoning. We just need the coaches to drill into his mind that he's a role player not a go to guy.
he's be good if he stuck to playing defense, put backs, and PnR's... come to think of it, same for dwight. both of them cough it up too much trying to create for themselves.
Mchale did 2 ballsy moves in 2 days. Yanked the entire starting 5 when they didn't show up. adjusted the line up by inserting Dmo back in it. Good job
Fans called it first. Morey would be a dumbarse not to see it as well. And I do not think he is stubborn.
Glad this experiment has been killed off. It was a predictable fail and inexcusable for McFail to even bother testing it. Singlehandedly cost us games.
The Rockets might've taken a few steps backwards HOWEVER they're going to be a match up problem in the playoffs once they get the team chemistry ironed out. Tonight was indicative of that against the Heat
oh and Canaan needs to play more. Rockets need to get at least 10 points a game from that position one way or another in my opinon
