Defense takes all 5 guys being on the same page. You start making major roster changes during the season and that continuity will be compromised. CF posters can't incessantly call for December trades or deadline trades and then turn around and complain about the team regressing. If you want to maintain continuity throughout the year, make all your moves in the off-season and don't put off needed upgrades because the guy you wish to acquire can't be 'flipped' at the trade deadline. Otherwise, shut up and accept that you can't have it both ways.
It's how they're coached and how the team was built. The 3's are going to keep flying, and since we have no truly good outside shooters, the bricks will keep on coming.
AMen this roster flipping crap is killing any real chance the team has at being successful. Sure add small pieces like Brewer - but Shved and Smith cost the team Cisco and Black - two guys that had some success in how the team got where it is..... DD
I know it is totally a coincidence. Since the extension of McHale at Christmas, everything started going downhill.
DAMN and the truth SPEAKS!!!!! People always want all superstars, if history shows us anything (USA TEAM, LA LAKERS, ROCKETS) just because you have all the talent does not guarantee a championship. I keep saying this, the starters greatest asset is their ability to play defense as a team. Also Morey and McHale have to get on the same page.... Bev and Trevor are defensive guys who's greatest strength are defense and slashers, not 3 pointers.. The gimmick that Morey is trying to do has never produced a championship.. Don Nelson was the master of all offense and no defense and he has never won a championship as a coach.... This is one of the most talented teams we've had in Houston for a while, but these guys have to play as a team and Harden has to learn that he has to give up to get. He's falling back into his old ways and that is not helping the cause one bit... T_Man
So DMO is definitely starting tomorrow night...right? He has to. We've looked god awful since our win vs. MEM where DMO started.
It makes no difference if DMo starts and they don't play as a team... Man some of you guys are not getting it... Defense's are packing in the paint on the starters which is killing DHoward, they are leaving Trevor and Bev open and shutting down the middle.... DMo is doing great on the 2nd team, because of Terry and Brewer.. This gives him space to do his thang... T_Man
The takes on this last page are just bad. People patting each other on the back because there's one point they agree with. Lots of one issue posters lately. There has not been that much roster turnover. We had one trade that took away Garcia and Daniels. Both of whom were basically not in the rotation anyway. Corey Brewer was a good pick up by Morey and brings exactly what we needed to a struggling bench. Let's not act ridiculous and pretend otherwise. The book is open on Shved. But I really like his size and court vision. This team needs a second playmaker desperately and I like what Shved could possibly bring. Let's not call him a mistake just yet. Fans are too fickle. The Josh Smith signing was a mistake. Really threw off chemistry in a big way. I was saying this since before we signed him. Important pieces in Motiejunas and Papa got their roles reduced because of him. Just very dumb move in general. Patrick Beverley cannot run a team. As defenses focus more and more on Harden, the team continues to suffer because of Beverley's "playmaking", if you can even call it that. Add to that, the fact that his defense is just bad now and he's really hurting the team overall. Ariza is an issue on offense but his defense is extraordinary. Right now I'd say he's the most important player we have on defense. His offensive ineptitude can be masked some. But there needs to be some changes. Can't have all of Bev/Smith/Ariza playing together. Too many bricks to go around. The team actually has the opposite problem of last year. Too many guys who play one side of the ball on defense. Very few who play well on offense. And almost none who play two ways. Another poster brought up the point that our inept offense is leading to easy baskets for the other team's offense. This is a very valid point. The starting line-up and second unit need to be swapped up some. Canaan needs some playing time. And papa needs to be brought back into the rotation. In addition, dwight needs to sit if he's still hurt.
The players are exhausted. The Rockets started the season playing with incredible intensity on both ends as examplified by Harden. Unfortunately, this style in not sustainable in the regular season and the players should pace themselves more intelligently and then revv up the intensity in the playoffs. Also, Josh Smith happened.
This is a bad excuse. The Warriors are the best defensive team in the league. They don't play like they are exhausted. Besides, players like Howard and Beverley have not been playing that many games due to injury. They can't be exhausted.
Cisco and Black were the two players fans wanted off the team the most. Funny how Rockets need them now.
Not all of us - but it is about the chemistry in the locker room, I firmly believe that Morey doesn't understand or rate it very high on his agenda...meanwhile the Spurs keep winning because they rate it highly. DD
Not really. His play has been poor. He's just not THE issue. There are many other factors as to why the Rockets are slumping.
Well the Warriors don't have one player playing over 34 mins a game, so you're rebuttal is pretty off base, but I do agree it is a bad excuse. These are world class athletes, outside of b2bs after travel, they should have enough energy to defend. I don't get all the hate for the roster turnover. We lost Daniels (never played anyways) and Cisco (couldn't hit the broad side of a barn), and gained Brewer (who has been playing incredibly) and Smith (who has completely sucked). That is very little roster turnover. Very minor moves replacing 1 player in the rotation(cisco), that most of us didn't even understand why he got minutes. Everyone said we needed frontcourt depth, and a wing to help Ariza and Harden get rest. We got exactly that while giving up essentially nothing, and y'all still want to b**** about roster turnover? What's wrong with the team is not player and talent acquisition, but the players themselves. They are not giving the effort needed on the defensive side of the ball. That's why they sat on the bench last night, and I hope they got the message. Especially Dwight.
I highly doubt he doesn't understand chemistry... I mean we are talking about a guy who leaves and breathes Rockets bball, and will do anything to make us better. He does however understand that any team that has Black and Cisco in the rotation is not going to win a championship. So he made a move to make our "depth" better. I hate how everyone references the Spurs, there is one team that accomplished what they have in the last 25 years. They are the exception, not the rule.
