Or trade Howard NOW and get something for him and let the team start the next era today. Just letting him walk is a waste to time and value. Yes the other team will get better BUT so will we in the long term as we build chemistry and confidentce going forward. It is better to cash in to early than to late or not at all. THEN stop the trades and let it grow into something organic.

it a 16 team western conference our starting pg probably ranks anywhere from 11th-14th among starting pgs. so whether it's turnover or our starting pg, we still aren't winning anything so what's the risk in another trade? starting and backup pg is a major problem and it needs to be fixed. i'm not sure the fix is currently on the roster which means you have to trade for the solution.

rondo is gone, the next obvious prize is gogi. Even someone like a ty lawson could be a solution.

Our starting PG is fine - the Lakers won how many with Derek Fisher at the point?

The problem is not Beverly - he plays hard every night, yes he is slumping, but the entire team is slumping on the perimeter now.

I totally agree with the Harden part. That is all this team has James Harden. His greatness has made us look better than we are.

I think you can win with PatBev as your point guard and a defensive minded team surrounding Harden .... IF they are at least efficient on the offensive end.

Thing is they continue to do things like post Howard multiple times a game when its proven he is a bad option to run the offense thru.

I think a lot of this is on the coaches - especially McHale for catering to Howards desires of post touches. They absolutely have to realize that its not a good idea when 37% of those touches end in a turnover and 41% of those that don't end in a missed shot .... Then you have a good percentage that end with him at the FT stripe where its a total crapshoot.

Howard needs to dedicate himself to the pick and roll game and being the ultimate garbage man. That's where his strengths lie , not in being a post scorer.

I do like the idea of a high low game with he and DMo when teams front the guy on the low post.

I really believe the offensive issues start and end with Howard ... weak screens , clogging the paint , horrible spacing and catching post passes 20ft out.
Hopefully Jones comes back soon and pushes Smith to the bench .... At least Jones does what he's good at which is attacking the rim from the baseline when guards drive instead of camping out at the ft-3pt line.

This team is filled with flawed players offensively but they could be difficult to stop if they were to play to their strengths.

I'm really upset that they extended McHale because so much of it is on him.

It's more evident than ever the Rockets need a second playmaker to help out Harden.

Teams give Bev the 3pt shot unlike how they played against Fisher.

I don't think Bev is long for this team. He's going to get a decent payday this summer (I expect his bad shooting to improve), and I'm not sure he will just accept a bench role after being the starter for the last 1.5+ years.

    Cleveland In: Plumlee, Beverley, Shved
    Cleveland Out: Waiters, Mem 1st

Phoenix In: Waiters, Capela, Mem 1st, NOP 1st
    Phoenix Out: Dragic, Plumlee

    Houston In: Dragic
Houston Out: Beverley, Capela, Shved, NOP 1st

I've done some reading up on Channing Frye. Seems like he would be a perfect fit for this team....especially if we got Dragic. Also, Channing is currently running 2nd team at Orlando, and they've got Aaron Gordon and Kyle O'Quinn as young "up and coming" PFs. He's still shooting at a high clip. I think the reason O'Quinn moved into the starting lineup was because they needed some rim protection next to Vucevic, and not because anything Frye did or didn't do.

Adding Frye and trading for Goran's brother as well might make Goran much more likely to stay during the summer.

    Maybe something like this...

Trade dwert, cut smith & start DMo

This is Harden's team. We all know this; heck it's probably a big part of the reason why we didn't trade for rondo cause Morey isn't about to take the ball out of harden's hands. Dwight's insistence on going to his ineffective post game and his refusal to play P&R bball makes him a bad fit next to Harden. Furthermore I'm not Not sure if he's slacking or if his athleticism is starting to fade but his defensive presence is no longer elite. When he gives effort it's still very good but whether due to injuries or decline in athleticism he's no longer elite.

Long term I'm sure Morey has already started to plan for a future without dwert but if we bomb in the first round again I'd like to see us go in that direction sooner rather than later.

Everything about this team is about Harden and Howard....mostly Harden at this point. The problem is we haven't taken the final steps to compliment their skillsets.

Ariza has complimented Harden very well on the defensive end, as has Brewer on the fast break. What we haven't done is add a secondary ball handler that can take pressure off Harden and allow him to sit more and take entire games off.

For Howard, plain and simple, he needs a stretch 4 to be successful. I don't think he will adjust to a 2 man low post game with DMo. He's not Gasol/Randolph. And I think some of his play recently is because he's giving up low post touches to DMo. As good as DMo is, he's not worth diminishing the impact of Dwight.

We need Dragic and Channing Frye. They have already proven to be effective playing together, but they also both solve needs for this team. I'd be willing to trade Beverley, DMo, and the NOP 1st to make it happen.

    Dragic / Canaan
    Harden / Terry
    Ariza / Brewer
    Frye / TJones / Papa
    Howard / Smith
