He has no creativity mind or nuts when it comes to maiking decisions with this team. Terry shouldn't be playing back up PG! Fukin stupid , I like terry but he should be playing once a week not a main rotation type of player. Have some nuts and make it a priority that Dmo gets consistent touches in the post. Stop giving Beverly and ariza the green light to shoot and find ways to get them involved other ways. Dwight will never be a consistent force in the post so stop force feeding him the ball run more pick and role. All in all do what a coach is supposed to do and make the proper adjustments and not just play players because there "name" is more known. Have some nuts!
I know people like to bump this thread but the Rox issues start in the front office (Morey/Les, etc.). At this point its hard for me to be mad at McHale because again he is just a yes man/puppet. The front office is the problem.
I don't think Morey did McHale any favors by acquiring Smith. And it's kind of hard for McHale not to play Smith, when we know that Morey has been hot for Smith for years. I was happy to see McHale pull the starters early in the third.
I've always wondered why Morey has been so high on Smith. He is literally the antithesis of Moreyball.
I wish we had a different owner. But that's not an option unfortunately. Barring the city collectively boycotting the Rockets until Les gets frustrated and embarrassed and sells them. Of course, if their lack of postseason success continues, that may wind up happening in a bandwagon town such as this. Just look at the Astros attendance figures.
Yes I agree.. The only reason why Les has two championships is because the team was already a contender by the time he had bought them.. Honestly I think he cares about making money more than winning.. He wasted Yao and Tmac primes and now he's going to do this right now.. Wish we had someone like Pat Riley
Les did ok the Clyde deal. That's the extent of his contributions to the title teams. Otherwise, he inherited what Steve Patterson put together(before promptly firing him). I think Les wants to win. He may not be an owner willing to spend whatever it takes(he is a businessman after all), but that doesn't mean he's Donald Sterling circa 80's and 90's only looking to make a profit. The problem is he doesn't know how. He thinks big name free agents and huge trades is the way to go. Just look at his reaction after the loss to Portland. He said we were gonna go out and get a big name player(BTW, we didn't). Not a word about improving our defense after giving up a wide open 3-pointer to Lillard. Nothing about improving our bench. No mention of a better playmaker at PG. Zip zero nada about the coaching staff. Quite the opposite there as they picked up McHale's 4th year option literally the next day. The man doesn't understand basketball. He thinks only in terms of flashy deals and names. Building a championship contender takes time, patience, a little luck, and most importantly a plan. It's a puzzle and you have to know how to put the right pieces together. This is not a fantasy league where you just plug in guys who put up huge numbers. But in over 20 years, he's never learned that.
I've been hard on Morey, considering he wanted to hand players like Smith, Melo, Rubio maxes and whatnot but I have a hard time believing thats his style. Those players aren't analytical gems. The big name thing is mostly the Les trademark. The gimmicky offense is all Mauri though.
That's actually not true. This thread is only still around because Mchale supporters were taunting people when we had the hot start.
He usually gets put in the corner for his antics sooner or later, self imposed or otherwise, especially when someone sheds light on his BS statistics.
I just don't understand how this site has become so lenient....it used to be like a 2 strike and then the permaboot rule. Clutch showing mercy I guess.
