I'm not stereotyping the Black Panthers, I mentioned three controversial groups in response to another poster's assertion that there weren't groups that politicians should avoid speaking to. You continue to choose to dishonestly parse my statement and focus on that single group to falsely claim some kind of racial stereotyping. Also, you're the idiot who tried to justify your own false allegations regarding EURO by simplistically stating "it's Louisiana" and offering no facts.

Yes you are stereotyping the Black Panthers because you call them controversial. And I'm stereotyping white supremacist groups as controversial because they have caused more destruction and violated more human rights than any other group in this country. So are you just b****in to be b****in are or you just a hypocrite... Pick whichever one you like but you must pick one. ;)

some people from a David Duke group holding an event at the same building where Scalise was giving an unrelated speech decided to drop in on his speech, and the story became "Scalise speaks to white supremacist group"

Apparently this extends to both sides of the aisle:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/...lise_n_6406844.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

"Overall, Duke was rather flabbergasted by the new focus on Scalise. He said he has hosted both Democratic and Republican legislators at everything from conferences to his children’s birthday parties. He said he has met with Democratic legislators at least 50 times in his political life.
And he delivered a warning to both Republicans and Democrats: Treat Scalise fairly, and don’t try to make political hay out of the situation. Or he said he would be inclined to release a list of names of all the politicians — both Republicans and Democrats — with whom he has ties."

Funny how the conservatives have responded to this story. First, he did something, but Robert Byrd! Then, he didn't do anything that bad, really. Then, well, it turns out it was just a coincidence, as he didn't do anything wrong at all. And now... back to the "well, everybody does it".

Wouldn't have been best to just say... "he did something wrong?"

Was Scalise the cause of Harry Reid's "exercise equipment accident"?

He didn't break any state or federal laws or governmental ethics rules; and the EURO/Jefferson Heights CA members are presumably tax-paying, voting citizens, so their peaceably assembling and being addressed by an elected representative isn't intrinsically sinful.

Wouldn't it be advisable to find out whether or not he actually did anything wrong first?

No one is saying he broke laws -- that isn't even on the table. People are saying that it is indicative of the reactionary nature of many Republican politicians, such as Salise -- a nature which Republicans try to deny is accurate.

Now, if you yourself are a reactionary who sympathizes with fascistic white nationalist groups, I can see why the association of one of the ruling parties with reactionary groups would not be an issue.

Again, my common disclaimer: I am not saying this as someone who wants people to not support Republicans and support Democrats instead, but instead as someone who despises both ruling parties.

I am guessing there is suppose to be some kind of Assumption in there

You really think I spend an inordinate amount of time on a message board filled with people I 'hate'? For their Skin Color?
    Seriously . .. what am I . . .a Masochist?

I would play the I HAVE WHITE FRIENDS CARD . . but *shrug* I'm a typist on the internet . ... it would not hold much weight

No Sir . . .I do not hate you nice white folx
I just don't love you enough to put on rose colored glasses to things that are done on your behalf.
I don't over look the differences between how white people are treated and how they treat others.
I don't turn a blind eye to 'whitewashed' history
I see the differences this society makes between
    White and Minority
    Rich and Poor
    etc
    etc

    Being Black and poor . . .. . I see them all
    <DIRT POOR!!! I'M STILL ON DIAL UP! I Keed I KEdd>

Is it wrong or hateful to say . . what I see is what I see?

    Honestly . . . I think you'd be surprise how much we have in common . . ... .
esp compared to what we have different . .. .

    Except Pouhe .. Pouhe on some ole Pouhe **** . . . *grin* <I Keed I Keed>

And... the conservatives here return back to the "Majority Whip Scalise didn't do anything wrong by giving a speech to a white supremacist organization".

Apparently Scalise felt guilted into apologizing for it... but since the GOP position is that there wasn't anything wrong... and Scalise is being unfairly criticized for speaking to the white supremacist group... hopefully it becomes a public plank of the GOP platform (as opposed to a hidden plank).

Ah, but Pouhe above doesn't think giving a speech to the white supremacist group is wrong, so I reckon there isn't a need to make such a determination?

I don't think it requires any more contrition than Scalise has already shown, or any more strongly worded language.

I think this whole thing is a non-story, but the guy you're referring to also claims EURO is not a racist group. Not sure he's the guy you want to be putting your faith in.

    http://www.slate.com/articles/news_...im_steve_scalise_never_spoke_to_euro_did.html

“EURO was not a white supremacist organization,” he said. “The people that came were middle-aged, taxpaying, God-fearing, Christian people.”
