LOL.. the two same songs that I got hooked on a couple of months ago. I actually got spotify for that reason, it was that moment where I was like its time to be able to DL music.

I didn't like their other stuff too much though.

Also, anybody that hasn't gotten on the Silversun Pickups or Cage The Elephant, its about ****ing time!!!

I finally got one of those convert-your-LP's-to-Disc USB turntables for Xmas so I'm digging out old vinyl that has been boxed away for over 20 years. My 14 year old is tired of me forcing him to listen to stuff that is either no longer available, promo copies, or just too obscure for him to have heard. For me, it is memory lane (despite the pops & skips)...

Horslips - The Belfast Gigs, The Man Who Built America (promos)
Gil Scot Heron - Secrets, First Minute of a New Day, Moving Target, From South Africa to South Carolina, several others (I love Gil Scot Heron)
Tons of old Zappa & Neil Young (even though I replaced most of these with CD long ago)
Manfred Mann - The Roaring Silence, The Good Earth
    U2 - Boy, War (promos)
Magazine - After the Fact, Secondhand Daylight (promos)
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (the gold & purple clear vinyl promo)
Pink Floyd - Final Cut (the promo banded version for radio play)
Patti Smith Group - Radio Ethiopia, Waves (promos)
New Order - Power Corruption & Lies
    Joy Division - Closer

The titles pretty much date me. I worked my way through college at a record store in Nacogdoches late 70's early 80's. Good times.

I haven't heard many new albums this year and judging by Taylor Swift landing on the Pitchfork Top 50 of the year list, I'm guessing this was a pretty timid year for new releases.

Ryuichi Sakamoto - Left Handed Dream (hey Manny, if you've never checked out Sakamato you might like him. He was part of Yellow Magic Orchestra)

There were a lot of really good, solid releases this year, but not really any essential albums except for maybe one (D'Angelo).
