They are not trying to stir up anything. They asked Malik for his reaction to Chavis being hired as DC. He told Brice Jones "I am going to call coach Sumlin." So either Malik is just talking out of his ass...he is just going to call Sumlin to talk about the weather...or he is weighing his options.
Would that have made any difference on his career though? He was incredibly athletic but not that good as an NFL QB, like a better Tebow. To succeed in the NFL, he would have somehow had to improve his passing, his judgment, his grasp of the pro-style offense, etc. Not sure an extra year at Texas would have led to any of that.
Probably not. However, he told Brice that he was going to call Sumlin. If you just dimiss it so easily, you either think that he is lying or toying with emotions. Which one is it?
“I'll talk to him. That's not a problem. If he reaches out to me I'll talk to him,” Jefferson said. “I'll probably call Coach [Mark] Hagen and ask him what's the deal and all that. I'm not going to be like so interested in them.” Regardless, Jefferson gave every indication he's sticking with the Longhorns, including what he told 247Sports' Brian Perroni when asked if the Chavis hire ultimately changes anything for him. “No sir,” Jefferson said to Perroni. “I'm still committed to Texas. I wouldn't mind talking to Coach Sumlin, but I'm still committed to Texas.”

The quote hasn't changed. These are two different quotes. What you posted is what he told Brian Perroni. What I posted is what he told Brice Jones. I wonder which one Malik was lying to.
Amazing how Ohio state can ride 3 different qb's to a national title game yet Texas hasn't been able find one in damn near five years.
yea. He might have been telling each guy what they wanted to hear but who knows. I would be extremely concerned if he wouldn't have already enrolled but anything is possible. Will be sad if Mack goes back to A&M but it's hard to see why he wouldn't seriously consider it. Hope he still takes a visit it Texas though. Just have to hope all the guys we aren't talking about will fit in well enough to the system.
Any news on Kris Boyd? His brother committed to UT and they both threw the horns up when they won state. I knew it was UT, AtM, Baylor and FSU but I just read now TCU is in the mix.
He downplayed the gesture. He added TCU to the mix today and he's going to visit all 5 schools this month. He was supposed to declare on Xmas but he delayed it.
They are coached by the best offensive mind in college for the last 10 years. UT has Shawn Watson, Bryan Harsin, and Major Applewhite.
Harsin was good, I believed that "co offensive coordinator" crap made him quit. Look at what he's done with Boise. We were doing some creative stuff his first year with Ash. I blame Mack. Shawn Watson is still unknown, he had Bridgewater and now he has Swoopes. Next year is when I'll judge him.
If anyone wants some background or wants to see some clips of him playing: http://www.hornsports.com/articles/recruiting1395317069/commitment-focus-anthony-wheeler-r4423
Ash was sort of an average QB. Nowhere near the caliber of previous QBs (Applewhite, Simms, VY, McCoy). But a step above the drudge we've had since (Gilbert, McCoy #2, Swoopes). He's the kind of guy you'd expect at a good mid-tier program that's having some success, I think.
I do hope Strong, et al, can modify the offense to fit the qb as needed. It took Mack a year and a half to do that with VY.
Is there any way we may be able to get a QB that is looking to transfer? Notre Dame and Ohio State come to mind as teams that have QB controversies. Then you have other schools like Iowa and VT. I'm sure there's many more.
