Similar to how FIFA give Europe more spots at the WC for historical performances, I think this is a way to make the bowl games more meaningful while rewarding consistent bowl strength.

It would work this way, you take the bowl/playoff games from the last three years, split into three groups. The BCS bowls/playoff wins = 4 points, the second tier bowl wins get two points while the worst bowls wins gets 1 point.

The conference with the most points the last three year is guaranteed at least one team in the playoffs. Everything else remains the same.

I like 6 with 2 BYE's, but would take 8 teams over conference title games. Eliminate all conference title games.

Did the Pac 12 really even want Arizona playing Oregon in a title game? Nothing good for the conference could have possibly come from that matchup so what's the point? Arizona shouldn't even have flown out, it's not in the best interest of the conference.

I'd rather title games lose all meaning than become some sort of automatic right to the playoffs.
