    Going out on NYE in Houston has been weak the few times I have. Every place is throwing a party so the crowds tend to be spread out.

    Stick to midtown. Hit up bars like Gaslamp or something.

    I'm not driving but would advise against Midtown or Washington as they will have tons of cops.

    Ride METRO FREE on New Year's Day

    Revelers ringing in the New Year can leave the driving to METRO - FREE of charge - on that special night.

    Safety is priority No.1 at the agency, and rather than get behind the wheel, METRO wants to offer the public a safe option to and from the party.

    The FREE RIDES begin at 6 p.m. New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) until 6 a.m. New Year's Day (Jan. 1) on both the bus and METRORail.

    METRO's service for New Year's Eve, Dec. 31., 2014, will follow regular, published schedules. METRORAIL hours are extended and trains will operate until 2 a.m.

    my dog and neighborhood dogs are going crazy. it's probably the worst holiday for dogs. is it bad that i wish, whoever is blasting rockets in a banned zone, would injure themselves?
