Harden and Beverley get Ariza plenty of wide open shots. He just bricks a vast majority of them.

I never understood why people thought that Ariza was better than Parsons - guess it was after those first 3 games.

Parsons is a very good player - maybe not worth that contract but did it really have to come to that.

Man, I still think if we had signed Lowry and then resigned Parsons...we'd be better team.

    Lowry/Parsons/Brewer > Smith/Ariza/Brewer

Heck you could have had Smith anyway.

    Lowry/Parsons/Brewer/Smith > Ariza/Brewer/Smith

Parsons consistency is still questionable and you never know when he will just go AWOL for quarters in a game. This is in the playoffs. Once you go game for game against the same team in a series I'd rather have Ariza still. Parsons will have one good game and thinks he has arrived then get outplayed the next three.

Meh, even with Ariza shooting poorly, he is a better all around player.

The bonus is that he is twice as cheap. So, there is no way for Parsons to be in any way a better option for the Houston Rockets, however you wanna flip it...

Ariza is liable to shoot 23 of 91 in a seven game series for us.

He is not a better "all around" player. He is a MUCH better defender, but he is worse at everything else.

Asik is a better defender than Yao ever was, but he was not a better all around player.

Ariza might not be shooting well but he does so many other things on the court.

Yeah but Yao was 7'6 with a great post game. Parsons is not an elite offensive player huge difference. Parsons can easily be shut down under pressure.

Out of those 23 makes I bet you 12-14 of those makes come in the 4th quarter when we need them to win games.

Why is this even still debated? Only a homer could argue Ariza is better. He's shooting 36% on the season for goodness sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he's overrated on defense.

Well not overrated, he's just OLDER just like Smith & Howard, doesn't has that step anymore.

He rebounds good, at this point we just have to hope if we play OKC in playoffs he can slow durant down.

Love the enthusiasm...but obviously only the cheaper, defender, and beauty comments apply ;)

I don't think Ariza is better than Parsons...but you can certainly make the argument that Ariza is better for this team given the disparity in contracts.

    No, he's overrated:

Why don't people look at these stats on NBA.com more? They are awesome!

You absolutely can. Many people brush under the rug just how awful he's been offensively, and I think that's misguided. He needs to be better, and hopefully he will, but him failing to even hit 40% is a problem.

I don't know man. I think Ariza is being played too many mins. He's the type of guy that typically steps up his game for playoff runs. See Lakers title run and his playoff performance last year. IMO i think mchale is wearing him down during the regular season. His shot has suffered as a result. Dude has played 30 mins or more in every game this season. In the 3 games since Brewer has been in the lineup Ariza has played 37, 38 and 40 mins. We all excused Mchale for overusing Ariza because we lacked depth (Hello Kpap anyone) but there is no excuse to run Ariza into the ground now. Dude is playing 38.3 mins per game.

The "excuse" is that no matter how well we see Brewer playing, the results tell us that the Rockets are a much worse team when Ariza sits.

This is what makes Pop a genius and so good. He coaches his team to be interchangeable parts. If we lose harden for a handful of games McHale would truly be exposed.

I remember when Francis averaged 41 minutes a game. Fans are too easy on players these days IMO.

Forget about the contracts. Would you trade Ariza for Parsons straight up if they were paid the same?
