Josh Smith is one of the biggest difference makers in the NBA.
Lol funny, but Detroit played 2 bad teams (I know Cleveland isn't garbage but they're way down atm, and we all know why Indiana is down). Let's see how Detroit does against a team that's doing well...
wow so many people complaining about the need for a real PG. Time to bust out my annual tirade about Morey's stunningly disregard for the position?
You guys are right about their effort, but effort doesn't always mean results. See Chuck Hayes... Hopefully Dwight decides to get more interested soon.
Good points.. unfortunately, sometimes Harden's frozen out of the games and can't create either. I've also noticed that he'll stand motionless and not even try to move to receive the pass, as if he's expecting others to do something with it.
It's not just effort but activity and movement to keep the offense fluid and hustle/intensity & effective positioning/hedging on defense. Obviously, we can point to a lot of the poor performances and showings they've had as well that go to your point.
No energy from the start, need to come out and send knock out blows to the other team. Dwight's post game, can we just stop going into the post unless we have nothing else to go too? I rather see DMO in that post.
FTs man , I'm talking about FTs ! We have the worst FT% in 15 years, maybe more , since ESPN stats only provides from 99-00 season, so this could be more dramatic, but I don't wanna check!) This season with FT% .710 , we are 28th in the league so far after PHI and DET. Enough said.
For sure, and it happened last night against the Spurs. Usually happens/reappears with the Thunder. My hunch is he gets frozen/neutralized basically by teams with good wing defenders and also strong interior defenses. His non-traditional game is great in many ways, but he doesn't have the adequate handles to navigate effectively against solid defenses that also shut off the passing lanes. Obviously, most players & teams are going to have trouble against these defenses, which is why the team needs to actually come up with a solution, particularly in order to do well in the playoffs. Another obvious: having a point guard to help direct and run the offense would likely be helpful. Other issues on offense: it's too crowded in the half court, and there's not enough movement (not fluid). Of course, when guys knock down their shots, you get some spacing. I would love to have a guy like Jamal Crawford.. or Dragic.
Good points. Definitely agree with you. I also agree on Harden sometimes waiting and watching, it's like there's a complete disconnect. I mean some possessions tonight equated to Bev trying to dribble to create something, and Harden just waiting around at the 3. I like Bev but when his shot is off or he's trying to be Harden it hurts the team. Also I'm wondering if a pg would even fix anything, if it means Harden having the ball less and he's not going to participate in the offense without it.
Don't get me wrong, a pg would be great to lower the burden on Harden, I'm just wondering if we'd see more standing around.
I have a few 1) Bev is no longer a good defender - and is getting by on reputation at this point. STOP GETTING UP IN THE GUARDS' GRILL A COUPLE OF FEET FROM HALFWAY - leading to the player going around Bev causing the entire defense to scramble to cover the very vacant top of the key. 2) I'm glad we showcased D-Mo to the rest of the league during that span where he was near unstoppable in the post. Because seemingly he will never have the opportunity to prove just how good he is here in Houston with a coach who fails to see the blatantly obvious. 3) We re-signed said coach for 3 more years. 4) Howard is starting to wear on me. I was a big advocate for him when everyone hated on him based off of ESPN articles. But this team has gone to absolute trash both offensively and defensively since his return from injury. I mentioned in another thread a reason for this - the short version is he doesn't play the same type of defense as Black/Dorsey - and the Black/Dorsey version is the one this team needs. 5) Having set rotations to finish games completely disregarding what the hell is happening during the game. Case in point last night - Corey Mr I Can't Miss Brewer gets pulled at the end of the game. And then tonight - pulling two players (the guys who actually hustle and play with heart) who helped reel in an 18 point deficit... for a very subpar Dwight Howard. Grow some god damn cojones and have the courage to bench a star player if he's not playing up to scratch. Our bench gets us back into the game... our starters lose it yet again. This team is so frustrating at times - but the worst part is a lot of the problems could be very easily remedied if we had a legitimate coach.... arghhhh it's like a broken record. I'd pay money to hear the reasoning between Les and Morey as to why he got an extension.
^Bev is not only "not a good defender" anymore. It's been that way for a bit. He's getting to the point where he's a bad defender. I don't care at all about the 2 plays a game he gets a cool steal. He is out of position so much. Like ffs. Play smarter.
Lack of playmakers will be the death of this team tbh Lin/Parsons could push the pace and create for others at times. Only so much you can do offensively when your supposed shooters cant hitting anything and now you have to rely on them to create.....which they cant do at all
Jason Terry is an absolute negative on defense...it really is god awful watching him run around. #FreeCanaan
Bev is not the problem he does his role, he is a 40% 3pt shooter and a good defender.... What is missing is effort from our center - he has started to play lazy, since he has come back his effort has been terrible. DD
