Honestly, I am not blaming Smith, I don't like his game and think he will hurt us, but it is not fair to him to put him in there where he doesn't know what his responsibilities are on either side of the ball.

I would have inserted him with 4 people who do know and teach him for a couple of weeks first.

It is not fair to him or the team and will only cost the team winnable games while he learns the systems.

Well, Smith played well in his 1st game. Who would have predicted he would be such a dud in his next 2 games? After the Spurs loss, they asked Smith to be more aggressive, not to defer too much. But even with those instructions, somehow he played better with Dorsey than with Dwight.

Must be the spacing that the 2nd unit creates with ball and body movement.

What? Really? Ugh, then he should have sat - no excuses - if you are not able to go, then leave it to someone else to pick up the torch.

Don't give a half-assed effort then make excuses as to why later.

Then the starters get lit up again by a 9-0 WAS run. It's not Smith; it's the starters as a unit. Even Harden's effort on defense vs. Beal/Pierce.

Watch Howard slow to a crawl and then stop at the FT line BEFORE the 3 pt. shot goes up....watch further as Nene moves in for a possible rebound under the basket as Howard stands watching. This is NOT an isolated incident. Effort is effort and he doesn't put a lot forward much of the time. If I'm a Rockets player, he could not be a leader to me...I would tell him to learn how to hustle and pay hard and then get back to me.

    JR will have it up.

All Dwight said though was that guys had to play harder. He didn't blame anyone, in fact said that the bench played with more energy and that's not acceptable. He just said that the team win and lose together.

I can't believe we lost this game basically because of FTs.

I will admit...I saw no part of this game. I just look at the box score and a few things stick out:
We MADE 6 more shots than them.
    We ATTEMPTED 24 more shots
We missed 9 FTs, they missed 2 and shot more than us... on our home floor.
    I
Smith had another poor game, more TOS than pts. That's a problem, but I have no doubt he'll eventually fit in better. I'm a fan of the deal, I just can't stand losing now that we have a more talented team and are healthy. This crap is annoying. It feels like yesterday we were at 5 losses and now it's 9. Wtvr.

This is slowly ruining how excited I was for the Grizzlies win after Christmas.

If he's having personal issues that are going to affect his performance, he needs to either A)learn to man up and play through it or B)at least be man enough to ask the coach to sit out this one if he feels he won't be able to contribute any meaningful minutes.

Basically he said they didn't stick with each and didn't trust each other. "Guys can't be looking at each other for messing up" --then it was more of a read between the lines thing. I don't know if something happened with Smith, but he wasn't too happy being out there with the starting unit, and with the exception of Dwight the others didn't look too happy either.

    Way to jump to conclusions.

All he said was guys need to stop looking at each other when they mess up on D and get back. Stuff like that.

I agree, don't blame each other during game. Only a loser team turns on each other and doesn't get back on defense.

Miss Kpap's passing and energy. Cannan has young legs and can stay with the fast guards. A good shooter too when the Rockets are ice cold. They dont deserve to be glued to the bench when other players are struggling.

Yeah, Dwight might be demanding his touches. I would say, hustle first and then I'll give you your touches. Nene-Gortat though is a solid pairing.

I meant it in the sense that he implied that the attitude of the starters towards each other wasn't good. See above post.
