Case has earned a spot somewhere in the NFL if not here. I would love him to take Fitzpatrick's place for the Texans.
I don't think Case will be around next season because BOB can't run the offense like he wants to with Case in the game. We ran some wildcat, halfback passes, and on the passes that Keenum had the most success on were quick three step drop one read hits. With Case at the helm the Texans had to rely on being very gimmicky. You can tell that BOB respects Case and likes him as a player though. I think all coaches do. If you could only put Tom Savage's arm onto Case's body he would be amazing.
I think it's a little unfair to assume that Case couldn't eventually learn to run the offense the way B'OB wants to run it. Case didn't look good in the preseason and was cut for it, but when he came back he didn't really have time to get into the real nitty gritty details of the offense the way O'Brien would have liked, so they had to do some unique things that simplified the offense. They would have had to do that with anyone that came in with one week to prepare. I'm not saying Case is the answer, but I could definitely see him being a decent backup with a little more time to learn the offense.
Case needs to be resigned as the back up. He could be a long time back up QB for the Texans and spot starter. He has flaws but is competent.
I'm no expert, just like the rest of us. But Case was terribly inaccurate this game. The INT that immediately led to the touchdown was completely his fault. The ball was at least 2' behind Hopkins. Everything that was a completion besides the first play was either a bubble screen or quick 3 step drop. There is no way he beats out Savage and whoever else is selected in this upcoming draft for a roster spot. Maybe another practice squad stint but that's about it. Too inaccurate to even be labeled a backup. I was at the game and he is a fan favorite, I like him as well with the UofH ties, but everyone was so freaking frustrated throughout due to his inaccuracies.
Keenum has no place on this team. Terribly inaccurate. This team has three players currently on the roster that are better than him. He's a good third string QB, but we're set there already. Love his effort and like him as a person, but not necessary to keep him around.
"tony romo is a great quarterback. we all failed." " Case is the best quarterback on that roster" rockstar wade's defense might weaken after 2 seasons but he knows what he is talking about when it comes to football, holy phenoms and donuts.
He's 2-8 lifetime. If you want to count wins then count losses. He had a good 4th quarter but we should have blown the game open before that. Jacksonville is one of the 4 worst teams in the entire NFL. He missed a wide open TD and threw behind a receiver which led to the INT. You are the Jeremy Lin fan of the Texans forum.
Does Case have any practice squad eligibility left? I'm not sure. He might have to be on an active roster to be in the league next year.
He's a freakin rookie with probably no expectations to play that day... John Elway lined up under the guard when he was a rookie to take a snap. John Elway also got benched as a rookie. Rookie QB's F'up... That's just what they do. You pay more attention to the botched hand off instead of the few good passes that he made... You don't look for perfection in a rookie you look for promise. And he did show a little promise and he wasn't scared to throw the ball down field like he was in pre-season... I think Savage is a 2-3 year project but I wouldn't be surprised if he's making noise by training camp next year. He has all the tools and the most upside of the group. I think he can be serviceable. Case didn't look any worst than Fitzpatrick and the Texans probably wouldn't have done any worst with Case and they could have used the money they spent on Fitzpatrick at another position(s). But I don't think he'll be on the team next year. They'll probably roll with the ones they got as you suggested.
