What *exactly* makes you think Mallet will ? 1 game? in what 6 years in the NFL??? - AJ, JJo and Myers need to either take pay cuts or be cut. - Re-sign Kareem Jackson, Newton and Reed (for a reasonable price.) - Ride with Mallett, Fitz, Keenum and Savage. May the best man win. - Draft a WR, ILB and an RB in the first 3 rounds. Foster's health will always be an issue. - Fill out rest of team with Free Agents. Profit!
How about letting him get one year under his belt(Just had two major surgeries)? Demeco was trash after his Achilles injury(worse than anything Cush had). A year later, he was back to himself. Give it time young one.
Oh, I don't have much confidence in Mallet either, but he's already here. Running QB's I always dismiss. I have yet to see a college runner turn into a great NFL QB. I think Mariota is gonna fail just like all the rest. As for Winston, he got by on talent in college. I could be wrong, but his repeated stupid choices and his regression this season, lead me to think he is gonna be an abject failure under the crucible of NFL defenses. I would be quick to take either one in the 2nd or 3rd rd, but I wouldn't fight my way into the top 10 to grab either one.
If he's available at 18 or wherever the Texans draft I'd be down depending on which of the receivers are still on the board.

I'm not nearly qualified to predict whether or not Mariota is going to be a success in the NFL, but I think he's more than your stereotypical "running QB." I think anyone that can throw the ball as often as he did in his college career and still manage to have a TD/INT ratio of 101/12 has something to offer NFL teams.

If we cut AJ , WR becomes the priority, no one was getting open today. I think you can't count on Clowney coming back either. But I like the way the depth played this year. I'd still draft Petty in the 3rd. I wouldn't give Mallet a big contract that kills the cap if he isn't great.
