Yes, they are contenders, and yes they would be without Dwight, less of a contender but they would still be a contender. It is not to play STARTING center, it is to have a competent backup, for when Dwight is in foul trouble or injured. If we are getting Plumlee back - or another quality center than I am ok with it. DD
The problem with DMO, offensively, is he's only good in the post. He can't shoot from mid range or 3 point range. He's also a bad pick n roll big. He just doesn't go up strong to finish. He basically needs the ball in the post to be effective. I don't see superstardom in DMOs future, maybe not even allstar. I think he would be a solid 17 ppg, 7 rpg, 2.5 apg big if he was the first or second option on his own team.
Lol comparing DMo to lin is laughable. Lin's 'skills' are a dime a dozen. Not so much for a seven footer with finesse and post skills. Take a seat, Carl.
Your optimism is novel, but the Rockets are not contenders without Dwight. To win a championship, Rockets will need the Dwight that showed up against the Blazers for at least a couple of series. D-Mo hasn't done 26/13 (or anything close it) one time this season. Your hopeless.
I don't think you get it,I live in Europe,I know many Russians and Lithuanians, they do NOT get along they are not the same at all, The Soviet Union was a brutal regime, u would get your ass beat for calling a Lithuanian a Soviet, trust me...as for the DMO Dragic argument,It would be a shame if we did not do all we could to maximize DMO's potential.7 footers with his skill level are extremely rare,But if we could obtain Dragic we would have to consider the deal with the caveat that Dragic sign with us long term.
If you do get him to sign long term, it means you lose Josh Smith in the off-season, you'd have already lost DMo, so you'd have no starting PF and no depth at all at center while having too many guards. It's a 2K type trade and not one that a real GM would do.
I didn't think about Smith...your right, what do you think of T jones can he be better then Smith eventually?
Just how rare or valuable is Motiejunas? Maybe not many bigs work back to the basket nowadays, but plenty manage to be just as effective or more effective using all kinds of skills. Is DMo a more valuable asset than, say, Mason Plumlee, Tyler Zeller, Nikola Mirotic or Kelly Olynik? You don't get a bonus for scoring with pretty post moves vs. via a face-up drive or an offensive rebound and dunk.
Well we don't have his Bird rights so we can't go over the cap to keep him. That means we couldn't give him a decent contract.
I've been saying this for 2 years in regards to D.Mo. 2 points is 2 points. I don't care how a guy scores as long as he gets the job done. D. Mo has yet to really even show explosive scoring ability where he gets a whole lot of points in bunches because he is so reliant on getting the ball in specific areas on the floor and isn't really a good offensive rebounder where he can get a few put backs each game. He is a machine in the post, but he doesn't get very many easy baskets like our more athletic power forwards seem to do by cutting to the basket and making themselves available.
Dont need dragic now....by the deadline, meh, maybe. Cool heads prevail, so lets just enjoy our new brother and member of the rockets, J.smooooooove!
A post game is an offensive creator. On any given possession some act has to set the play in motion. Other than Harden, our entire offense is basically contested 3's. Face up jumpers are either contested (poor shot) or have to be set up by some other player. Rebounds and putbacks are valuable, but can't be counted on to generate offense.
With Harden you don't need someone to dominate as a scorer at that position, just someone to play solid defense and rebound and score a little. Especially with the team we have now and if Jones get healthy. DD
Yeah exactly. The post moves are really nice but he's not exactly explosive and drawing tons of fouls. Kind of reminds me of scola in that way. Very skilled and you could Iso him, but nor very impressive effiency as a result of not drawing many fouls.
Right, so we could keep Dragic while losing DMo and Smith. We'd be making the PG position strong while killing the PF and backup C spots. Also, who's to say Beverley takes the benching well? We could end up losing him too. It's just all around a bad idea.
