With schved being unhappy lately and talking about going back to europe, i think morey told mchale to give him some minutes. Keep in mind this was before he got traded to the rockets. He might be over that now.

Dude is 6'5". We'll need his length on defense. Trying to get him integrated with the Rockets

Shved obviously disappointed in the cut of his jersey, his shoulders are too small.

I agree and I wonder how long Canaan will be with the Rockets with the emergence (?) of Nick Johnson, cuz I don't think Shved is going anywhere as Morey apparently went out of his way to get him. I am very optimistic about Shved though, as he's in his 4th year I think and got limited in minutes at PG because of the language barrier and possibly getting adjusted to the NBA game. He has also been on some VERY bad teams. But his motivation may improve and there is definitely some serious upside to a 6'5" PG that has handles, hops, and is versatile.

If the Rockets end up getting Josh Smith and Shved pans out to be a reliable backup for 12-15 mpg I don't know if Morey will push to get Dragic, it might not even make sense in a lot of circumstances. Bev when healthy is THE BEST PG in the league for his value in terms what the Rockets emphasize (3 and D). He is an absolute lockdown defender for opposing PGs and his 3pt % is no fluke. What a find Bev was wow.

Yeah he kept hiking his "sleeves" (?). He should just have them re-done.

Morey wanted Shved because of two things:

    1. Promise - he showed lots of flashes in his time in the NBA. He has size and intangibles. He could be another Diamond in the rough.

    2. Contract - he is a very moveable contract that gives you more breathing room when you need to accumulate lots of salaries to trade for a star.

I am pretty sure, that the second reason is just as important as the first. If we trade for a big contract, I expect to see him gone.

I would also add that Shved gives you the option to have taller line ups out there. With the way PGs are playing in the west you have to set up yourself for the playoffs.

Having a tall PG can be bothersome for rivals and it is a must for the road we have to travel towards championship.

We can throw Bev, Shved, Canaan/Jhonson to any PG, as we can throw Ariza, Brewer to any other perimeter threat.

Looked forward to seeing both Brewer and Shved last night. Missed the early parts of the game so only saw Shved in garbage time. He his the first three he took while I was watching but it was definitely garbage time and hard to tell anything.

One thing, I was wrong about his height... somehow I thought he was 6-7, but he was announced as 6-6 and he looked shorter than that. Still tall for a PG (especially on the Rockets). Still would rather him at PG this season than Johnson, so still happy with his addition.

It seems that Morey really likes Shved, I went ahead and compared his numbers to Dragic through their 1st 3 seasons.

    Dragic--------Shved
    16.6 MPG-----17.7 MPG
    6.8 PPG-------6.9 PPG
    2.7 APG-------2.5 APG
    1.5 TO--------1.4 T0
    1.7 FTA-------1.9 FTA
    21.3 USG%----21.3 USG%
    46% 2Pt------42% 2Pt
    38% 3pt------30% 3pt

Now the glaring difference between the 2 is that Dragic was a much, much better shooter. The silver lining in Shved's shooting is that he does shoot 44% from the corners over his career.

Shved looked terrible in his first game, but I think Morey believes that on a better team, with better talent and more corner 3's, Shved can be a Dragic like playmaker. We still have some time until the deadline, if Shved isn't what he hoped, then Morey can still flip his contract for somebody, maybe even Dragic himself.

Something must be up with Canaan. I can't begin to understand how dudes like Shved and Nick Johnson have a more secure spot in the rotation than him already.

Yes, it is a bit surprising and concerning to see that. My guess is that Canaan has lost some confidence and needs time to regain it, after coming back from his ankle injury.

He can be a trade asset or a good backup, if he starts playing well again. The addition of Shved and Nick Johnson's presence, should motivate him to prove that he can help the team.

Is it just me or does Alexey still look lost out there?

Of course he does. He's a kid joining a contender after playing with possibly the two worst youth development teams in the NBA.

I don't know if we'll have him past the deadline, but if we do then I think the guy can develop into a solid guard.

He looks lost, but the coaching staff seem to believe in him. I think he' has to play better against lesser teams until he finally finds his place on the team.

You people are a bit too harsh on him. Defensively he's been pretty bad, but offensively he's doing alright IMO.

He's played within the flow, did some nice hockey assists, and moved well around offense. Yeah he didn't hit his jumpers yet, but give it time.

Defensively he has to at least become average though

Did he get injured in the 1st? I don't recall him coming back on again. Is he ok?
In the last game (his first) I recall one of the commentators saying that Beverley who he played alongside overseas how good of a player he is. Hope we see that from him. Someone must see something in him given he's been taking Canaan's minutes.

Shved was bad, except for one drive to the basket. Defensively got lost guarding Udrih! Also his lack of a 3pt shot is what bothers me, since Canaan is great! I want to see Shved being brought along slowly, not the first guard off the bench. What kind of message are you sending Canaan and even Terry?

I haven't been impressed at all so far, but to be fair, it has only been two games. I'll give him a chance. Right now he doesn't look like he is capable of guarding his position and that worries me more than anything offensively related.

Shv3d is more of a true PG than Canaan. This team still needs to take the pressure of Harden so we're giving Alexey a shot.

He's an intriguing PG prospect at 6'6 with the ability to create IMO.

Canaan is more just a shooter.
