It's hard to say what would have happened if Josh Smith wasn't in the game. He certainly did some nice things, but giving his touches on offense to better offensive players probably ends with more points so it's give and take. I think Josh Smith had an overall positive impact on the game, probably more of an overall positive impact than Jones would be able to bring to the table because he plays no defense and has essentially the same offense.

I feel like we're the only knowledgeable fans here regarding tjones and smith.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but at least know what you're talking about. Don't make stuff up.

I stopped reading when he said smith was a better shooter.

Kobe has had terrible shot selection his whole career. So did Iverson. Not that Josh Smith is in their class. Monta Ellis has had bad shot selection. Rudy Gay too. Its not giving him a pass. He is a good player. Period.

If both Dwight and Josh Smith get 30+ mpg, you can't split the rest evenly between D-Mo and T-Jones. Gotta choose one or the other.

I guarantee if D-Mo's minutes are reduced a lot, he will revert to sissy form.

Like who? Howard didn't bring it tonight, DMo had a poor game as well. There's a reason he got so many touches.

This is all just theory. Rondo is a better playmaker than Goran Dragic, does that make him a better player?

Smith changes more shots than Jones? I'm pretty sure this is baseless but I'll bite. How do you know this? Because you saw this one game? Are you counting the amount of shots Jones changes vs the ones Smith changes? I saw at least a few layups go in right under his nose tonight.

Harden went from average defender to great defender in one off-season. Because LMA went off for TWO (count them TWO not the whole series) games you all want to throw Jones under the bus. Jones still has a lot of room to grow. Smith was not an elite defender the second he stepped into the league, much like Harden was not. I think it's a big mistake to stop TJ's development for Josh Smith.

But I will give it up, when Smith doesn't stop shooting and the defense is only as good as it is now I imagine most of you will change your tune.

Not true. When Jones comes back him and D Mo are the bigs off the bench. Whoever is playing best in a given game will play more. The D Mo that played tonight would be glued to the bench if Jones was healthy.

He's already reverting to sissy form, and it's because he's playing alongside Howard much of the time. It seems to me that he's a LOT better without Howard in there. Even before Jones gets back I'd rather not see a Howard/DMo lineup. Put KPap in at the backup PF spot.

Oh and I feel like Smith won't get much more than 30mpg, which leaves 15-20mpg for Jones and pretty much the same for DMo if we're smart about resting Howard plenty.

This is rediculous... "I'm right!" "No you're wrong"

We could go on for hours, I'll just say this. Brandon Wright is leading the league in FG percantage im pretty sure. Does that make him a better offinsive player than Mark Gasol? Dwight? Cousins?

FG percantage tells very little when comparing guys who have played entirely different roles their entire careers!

Here's the deal, I don't know you. For all I know you may be a brilliant basketball mind. But if you can watch, I mean really watch both players, then come to the conclusion that Jones is a better player... Then it's simple, you don't know what the hell you're looking at!

DMo didn't really have a poor game, he just didn't get a lot of touches. Give DMo 21 shots, and he scores considerably more points than Smith did. In a perfect world you would spread those touches out among the entire team though. The Rockets won't win that many games with Josh Smith putting up 21 shots a game.

That's pretty much the entire reason I'm arguing. They wouldn't if a lot of people here had their way.

    lol

I agree someone has to go and think that a better role playing back up to Howard is best. Any Tarik Blacks out there but 3 inches taller?

TJ come back he would be a nice back up 4 to Smith I think.

I don't expect Smith to take so many shots going forward. Smith did some things that aren't in tune with the way the rockets generally play so once he gets some practice time that will go away.

But Smith can create his own shot, unlike everyone else on the bench. When most of his shots are drives to the rim I don't care how many he makes...somebody else will be there to clean up the misses.

When Smith starts D-mo comes off the bench he will get a lot of postups against crap teams.

Howard messed the whole rotation up anyway by getting in foul trouble and playing like crap.

We beat Memphis to get into 1st place in a game where Dwight and D Mo scored less than 10 pts each and we are complaining about touches? Depth means when someone has a bad game you have enough talent to compensate. Smith may have 5 shots next game total. This game dictated he be aggressive and he was.

I thought Smith allowed the Rockets to stay big when the Grizzlies went small tonight. That added versatility to the team was worth the 2 mil. and no more Tarik Black right there, in my opinion. Now the Rockets are deeper and more versatile, with Jones' return looming on the horizon. We have an excess of big dudes who can play now. It's pretty great.

Just pointing out bad habits. We happened to win in OT, but if we'd done a better job of handing out touches, it might not have taken OT to win. A guy like Josh Smith taking 21 shots is something that will cost you a lot of games, so it's best if we can prevent it going forward.

I mean, this guy got cut from the PISTONS and demands to start. Why the **** do you guys think he will change. Clearly he thinks he's a star when he isn't.

He took 21 shots, but how many of those were really "bad" shots? Maybe 3 or 4?

I thought just about all of them, save for a few, were good looks for him. He was aggressive, and he made up for DMo and Dwight being pretty ineffective offensively tonight. Do you want Smith taking 21 shots every game? No, but if the shots aren't bad, then it's hard to complain.

Not hard for me. Re-watch the game. You will see were down and losing by 11. Once he came in we closed it to within 2. His +/- was +15 and Ariza was +16. No one was even close to that.

He is a really good two-way player. You just can't admit that because now you have an agenda to save face since you made it clear you thought he was a cancer.
